Ces deux types d'arguments, qui furent d'abord élaborés par les philosophes de l'Antiquité et les théologiens du Moyen Age, font ici l'objet d'une reformulation rigoureuse, nourrie par les travaux des philosophes anglo-saxons contemporains.
