Daraus wird ersichtlich, dass die Globalisierungsprozesse nicht aus einer Makroperspektive heraus, sondern auf der Ebene der lokalen Akteure untersucht werden sollen. Im Mittelpunkt dieser Arbeit steht daher das Lokale, das hier nicht als gegeben vorausgesetzt, sondern aus einer Handlungsperspektive heraus genauer untersucht wird. Gefragt wird daher nicht nur was das Lokale ist oder tut, sondern auch, wie es sich konstituiert, wie das Lokale durch das Handeln der Akteure geschaffen wird. Im Kontext der Globalisierung muss zudem gefragt werden, wie sich das Lokale durch u ere, globale Einfl sse ver ndert. Denn das Lokale ist unter den Bedingungen der Globalisierung nicht mehr nur lokal, sondern immer auch global konstituiert. Zur Verst ndlichung der Relation des Lokalen mit dem Globalen muss daher genauer bestimmt werden, was das Lokale und was das Globale ist bzw. was diese beiden Kategorien ausmacht. Wie noch gezeigt werden wird, ist der Versuch einer genauen Bestimmung des Globalen problematisch, weil es im Gegensatz zum Lokalen keinen festen Ort hat. Soziales Handeln ist in dieser Arbeit also zentraler Bestandteil und der Schl ssel zur Beschreibung der Auswirkungen der Globalisierung auf das Lokale. Ausgehend von Till F rsters (2005) Aufsatz "Globalisierung aus einer Handlungsperspektive", werden die verschiedenen m glichen Handlungen lokaler Akteure bei der Auseinandersetzung mit Fremdem bestimmt. Dabei werden den verschiedenen Handlungsintentionen der lokalen Akteure die verschiedenen Verl ufe des sozialen Handelns gegen bergestellt.

Archaeologies of Cultural Contact undertakes an exploration of cultural transfer, with a particular focus on the combination and modification of both material and behavioural attributes under conditions of contact. From globalization and displacement to cultural legitimization and identity politics, the modern world is characterised by, and articulated through, dynamics of contact and transfer. This book recognises that creolization, ethnogenesis, hybridity, and syncretism are analytical concepts and social processes, relevant not only to the postcolonial contexts of the twentieth century but also to wide-ranging instances where contact is made between cultural groups. Indeed, in representing the re-working of pre-existing cultural elements, they were crucial and ever-present features of the human past. Ranging in their analytical frame, scale, and geographical and temporal location, the chapters in this volume demonstrate the diverse understandings that can be gained from explorations into the material remains of past contact, exposing and overcoming various limitations of competing models of cultural change. Current debates on the transnational impact of world views (interpretive frameworks) often refer to the concepts of 'globalization' or 'travelling models, ' with an emphasis on domination or on a process of translation.
