HE following pages treat of the theoretical side of the Delsartean philosophy; and it is our purpose to deal with the philosophy, not with the philosopher, -- with the teachings, not the teacher. We will pause, however, long enough to say that during the life of Francois Delsarte one could point to him and say with truth, "There is the great master of expression of the world."
