Se inicia explicando la necesidad de realizar un prediseño que incluya el esquema de barras y el unifilar básico de acuerdo con los estudios del Sistema Eléctrico donde se encuentra inmersa la Subestación a diseñar, seguidamente se elaborará un plano de disposición general de equipos preliminar que permitirá la seleccion de un terreno adecuado para la implantación de la subestación; La planificación del diseño de la Ingeniería de detalles, lista de planos (para determinar las H-H de dedicación), selección de equipos, diseño de obras civiles y diseño de servicios esenciales de la subestación, son actividades que deben realizarse eficientemente para lograr un equilibrio económico entre la oferta y la construcción de la obra, ademas del cumplimiento de los tiempos de ejecución solicitados por el cliente; es por ello que se han incluido estos capítulos señalando los puntos básicos a ser considerados en la elaboración del diseño particular de una subestación en Alta Tensión Culminado el trabajo de diseño de la ingeneiría de detalles, se debe elaborar un manual de operación y mantenimiento y los planos denominados "como construidos", la labor del ingeniero de diseño solo termina con el cierre administrativo de la obra, debe garantizar que el cliente disponga para la operación de la instalación de un manual que se inicia con la compra del primer equipo y culmina con los planos actualizados de acuerdo a las modificaciones originadas en campo. Se han incluido, a traves de códigos QR documentos y fotos, con la finalidad de aclarar y dar a conocer equipos y unifilares que conforman el diseño de una subestación.
