Book Description
Cooperative relaying is a promising approach to improve data rate and coverage in wireless networks. Although the benefits of cooperation have been consistently shown in theory, the performance of realistic cooperative networks is still not clear. Bridging this gap between theory and practice is the objective of this thesis. This is done in three steps. First, practical selection relaying protocols are analyzed under realistic assumptions. Second, efficient protocol extensions are described and, third, a prototype for cooperative Wireless Local Area Networks (WLANs) is demonstrated. Based on theoretical findings and extensive field measurements, this thesis provides insight into the performance regions of realistic cooperative networks and into implementing cooperative devices. Furthermore, the basic elements of cooperative systems are introduced and a concise taxonomy of common designs is given. This text is, thus, helpful for researchers and engineers who implement cooperative systems, plan to support their networks by relaying, or look for an introduction in the field.

Book Description
Cooperative Communications reviews progress in cooperative communication networks. It assembles a representative sample of recent results to serve as a roadmap for the area. The emphasis is on wireless networks, but many of the results apply to cooperation in wireline networks and mixed wireless/wireline networks. Cooperative Communications is intended as a tutorial for the reader who is familiar with information theory concepts but has not actively followed the field. For the active researcher, it serves as an invaluable digest of significant results. It is designed to encourage readers to find new ways to apply the fundamental ideas of network cooperation. It is also intended to make the area sufficiently accessible to practicing network designers.

Book Description
This book presents a broad range of deep-learning applications related to vision, natural language processing, gene expression, arbitrary object recognition, driverless cars, semantic image segmentation, deep visual residual abstraction, brain–computer interfaces, big data processing, hierarchical deep learning networks as game-playing artefacts using regret matching, and building GPU-accelerated deep learning frameworks. Deep learning, an advanced level of machine learning technique that combines class of learning algorithms with the use of many layers of nonlinear units, has gained considerable attention in recent times. Unlike other books on the market, this volume addresses the challenges of deep learning implementation, computation time, and the complexity of reasoning and modeling different type of data. As such, it is a valuable and comprehensive resource for engineers, researchers, graduate students and Ph.D. scholars.

Book Description
In this thesis, we study the problem of energy efficiency and reliability in wireless ad-hoc networks. First, we introduce the idea of wireless cooperation advantage. We formulate the problem of finding the minimum energy cooperative route for a wireless network under idealized channel and receiver models. Fundamental to the understanding of the routing problem is the understanding of the optimal power allocation for a single message transmission between two sets of nodes. We present the solution to this problem, and use that as the basis for solving the minimum energy cooperative routing problem. We analytically obtain the energy savings in regular line and regular grid networks. We propose heuristics for selecting the cooperative route in random networks and give simulation results confirming significant energy savings achieved through cooperation. In the second part, we study the problem of route reliability in a multi-hop network. We look at the reliability issue at the link level and extend those result to a wireless network setting. In the network setting, we first define and analyze the reliability for a fixed route and then propose algorithms for finding the optimal route between a source-destination pair of nodes. The relationship between the route reliability and consumed power is studied. The idea of route diversity is introduced as a way to improve the reliability by taking advantage of the broadcast property, the independence of fading state between different pairs of nodes, and space diversity created by multiple intermediate relay nodes along the route. We give analytical results on improvements due to route diversity in some simple network topologies.

Book Description
The third edition of this hands-on textbook pursues the focus on the principles of wireless sensor networks (WSNs), their applications, their protocols and standards, and their analysis and test tools; a meticulous care has been accorded to the definitions and terminology. To make WSNs felt and seen, the adopted technologies as well as their manufacturers are presented in detail. In introductory computer networking books, chapters sequencing follows the bottom up or top down architecture of the seven layers protocol. This book is some more steps after, both horizontally and vertically, the view and understanding are getting clearer, chapters ordering is based on topics significance to the elaboration of wireless sensor networks (WSNs) concepts and issues. This book is intended for a wide audience, it is meant to be help and motivate, for both the senior undergraduates, postgraduates, researchers, and practitioners; concepts and WSNs related applications are laid out, research and practical issues are backed by appropriate literature, and new trends are put under focus. For senior undergraduate students, it familiarizes with conceptual foundations, applications and practical projects implementations. For graduate students and researchers, energy-efficient routing protocols, transport layer protocols and cross-layering protocols approach are presented. Testbeds and simulators provide a must follow emphasis on the analysis methods and tools for WSNs. For practitioners, besides applications and deployment, the manufacturers and components of WSNs at several platforms and testbeds are fully explored.

Book Description
In this book, we consider the design of practical distributed space-time codes and power efficient fading mitigation techniques for wireless relay networks. Furthermore, the performance analysis of the wireless relay networks under different protocols and fading channels are investigated. The formulas for the symbol error rate (SER), outage probability, and diversity order of the investigated schemes are presented in fading channels. Based on these SER expressions, power allocations are also introduced to further improve the performance of these systems. The proposed cooperative schemes are next applied to some practical wireless networks. For instance, several amplify-and-forward cooperative schemes are proposed which consider the residual battery energy, as well as the statistical CSI, for the purpose of lifetime maximization in multi-branch, multihop wireless networks. In addition, new energy-efficient cooperative routing protocols are proposed in multihop wireless networks. In contrast to previous works, the proposed cooperating routings depend only on the statistics of the channels, and are implemented by both the centralized and distributed approaches.

Book Description
In this thesis, several important aspects of cooperative wireless multiuser networks are investigated. The focus lies on coherent two-hop relaying networks where several amplify-and-forward (AF) relays assist the communication between multiple source-destination pairs. First, the impact of local oscillator (LO) imperfections and I/Q imbalance at the relays on two-hop relaying is investigated. A special focus lies on the comparison between frequency division duplexing (FDD) and time division duplexing (TDD) relays. Based on the observation that the direction in which a channel between two wireless nodes is measured has an impact on the estimate, phase synchronization requirements for coherent relaying networks are then found. Several channel estimation protocols that differ in the direction in which the single-hop channels are measured are furthermore identi'ed and their performance is compared. Next, a very simple phase synchronization scheme is presented that provides a set of relays with a common LO phase. Two coherent beamforming schemes, namely multiuser zero-forcing (MUZF) and multiuser minimum mean squared error (MMSE) relaying, are then investigated. Finally, a real-world demonstrator for distributed wireless communication networks (called RACooN Lab) is presented. It was used to implement coherent cooperative communication schemes on a practical two-hop relaying network.
