Book Description
Academic Paper from the year 2019 in the subject English Language and Literature Studies - Culture and Applied Geography, grade: 1,3, University of Kassel, language: English, abstract: What is math about? Basically spoken, it is about uniting separate parts and bringing together something new. To understand and to read the new creation, it is important to understand the meaning of each part to create further meaning of the whole. Where is the difference to language? To properly understand a language it is important to split it into smaller units and to understand the meaning of each unit it is necessary and helpful to understand the whole language. The mathematical formula is 1+1= language. Firstly, this seems to be confusing but lately, logical. Language does consist of smaller units which, once brought together, build up to a new system, a whole language. To understand a language it is therefore indispensable to understand logical connections but it is not necessary to be a math genius. Today’s most striking field of linguistic, Natural Language Processing (NLP), combines the ability to think logically and to analyse language in an encompassing manner. The aim of this paper is to give a brief introduction on what is Natural Language Processing (NLP) and further, to define several challenges NLP has to face due to online data bias. The challenges which concern the field of technology as well as they influence the social impact form a work frame for the overlaying field of ethical challenges in online data which are going to be displayed in this paper. Not only existing challenges but also future solutions will be a subject of discussion.

Book Description
This book gathers selected papers from Artificial Intelligence and Industrial Applications (A2IA’2020), the first installment of an annual international conference organized by ENSAM-Meknes at Moulay Ismail University, Morocco. The 29 papers presented here were carefully reviewed and selected from 141 submissions by an international scientific committee. They address various aspects of artificial intelligence such as digital twin, multiagent systems, deep learning, image processing and analysis, control, prediction, modeling, optimization and design, as well as AI applications in industry, health, energy, agriculture, and education. The book is intended for AI experts, offering them a valuable overview and global outlook for the future, and highlights a wealth of innovative ideas and recent, important advances in AI applications, both of a foundational and practical nature. It will also appeal to non-experts who are curious about this timely and important subject.

Book Description
Though natural language processing has come far in the past twenty years, the technology has not achieved a major impact on society. Is this because of some fundamental limitation that cannot be overcome? Or because there has not been enough time to refine and apply theoretical work already done? Editors Madeleine Bates and Ralph Weischedel believe it is neither; they feel that several critical issues have never been adequately addressed in either theoretical or applied work, and they have invited capable researchers in the field to do that in Challenges in Natural Language Processing.

Book Description
This open access book provides an overview of the recent advances in representation learning theory, algorithms and applications for natural language processing (NLP). It is divided into three parts. Part I presents the representation learning techniques for multiple language entries, including words, phrases, sentences and documents. Part II then introduces the representation techniques for those objects that are closely related to NLP, including entity-based world knowledge, sememe-based linguistic knowledge, networks, and cross-modal entries. Lastly, Part III provides open resource tools for representation learning techniques, and discusses the remaining challenges and future research directions. The theories and algorithms of representation learning presented can also benefit other related domains such as machine learning, social network analysis, semantic Web, information retrieval, data mining and computational biology. This book is intended for advanced undergraduate and graduate students, post-doctoral fellows, researchers, lecturers, and industrial engineers, as well as anyone interested in representation learning and natural language processing.

Book Description
"Mobile Speech and Advanced Natural Language Solutions" presents the discussion of the most recent advances in intelligent human-computer interaction, including fascinating new study findings on talk-in-interaction, which is the province of conversation analysis, a subfield in sociology/sociolinguistics, a new and emerging area in natural language understanding. Editors Amy Neustein and Judith A. Markowitz have recruited a talented group of contributors to introduce the next generation natural language technologies for practical speech processing applications that serve the consumer’s need for well-functioning natural language-driven personal assistants and other mobile devices, while also addressing business’ need for better functioning IVR-driven call centers that yield a more satisfying experience for the caller. This anthology is aimed at two distinct audiences: one consisting of speech engineers and system developers; the other comprised of linguists and cognitive scientists. The text builds on the experience and knowledge of each of these audiences by exposing them to the work of the other.

Book Description
This volume examines the conflicting factors that shape the content and form of grammatical rules in language usage. Speakers and addressees need to contend with these rules when expressing themselves and when trying to comprehend messages. For example, there are on-going competitions between the speaker's interests and the addressee's needs, or between constraints imposed by grammar and those imposed by online processing. These competitions influence a wide variety of systems, including case marking, agreement and word order, politeness forms, lexical choices, and the position of relative clauses. Chapters in the book analyse grammar and usage in adult language as well as first and second language acquisition, and the motivations that drive historical change. Several of the chapters seek explanations for the competitions involved, based on earlier accounts including the Competition Model, Natural Morphology, the functional-typological tradition, and Optimality Theory. The book will be of interest to linguists from a wide variety of backgrounds, particularly those interested in psycholinguistics, historical linguistics, philosophy of language, and language acquisition, from advanced undergraduate level upwards.

Book Description
The concept of natural language processing has become one of the preferred methods to better understand consumers, especially in recent years when digital technologies and research methods have developed exponentially. It has become apparent that when responding to international consumers through multiple platforms and speaking in the same language in which the consumers express themselves, companies are improving their standings within the public sphere. Natural Language Processing for Global and Local Business provides research exploring the theoretical and practical phenomenon of natural language processing through different languages and platforms in terms of today's conditions. Featuring coverage on a broad range of topics such as computational linguistics, information engineering, and translation technology, this book is ideally designed for IT specialists, academics, researchers, students, and business professionals seeking current research on improving and understanding the consumer experience.
