Ruwenzori, is a fable based on the tradition that the Ta Merian ancestors came from Moon Mountain (Ruwenzori) . The ancient Egyptians (Ta Merians) believed their ancestors came from Kush, "The Land of the Gods." Kush was the old world name for Ethiopia which meant all of Africa south of the Nile Valley. The Ruwenzori Mountains are at the head-waters of the Nile River, south of Lake Victoria. Even though the village and the lake in the fable are fictional, as are the characters, there are several lakes near the border between the Congo and Uganda where this story could have taken place.
