Book Description

Book Description
This series provides a clearly structured and comprehensive overview of fracture treatments based on the most recent scientific data. Each book in the series is organized anatomically, so the surgeon can quickly access practical aspects, examples, pearls and pitfalls. In this first volume in the series, fractures of the proximal humerus are examined with an overview of fracture morphology, injury pattern, preoperative considerations, conservative treatment, surgical management and postoperative care. Fractures of the Proximal Humerus is written by a group of experts from the Association for the Rationale Treatment of Fractures (ARTOF) who aim to provide an independent, unbiased summary of fracture treatments to improve clinical outcomes. Trauma and orthopaedic surgeons worldwide who are searching for current knowledge of new implants, therapeutic strategies and advancements will be able to quickly and accurately apply the information from this book to provide the best possible care for their patients.

Book Description
Surgical Exposures in Foot and Ankle: The Anatomic Approach demonstrates the surgical approaches used in foot and ankle surgery by orthopaedic surgeons and podiatrists. This reference contains material covering the foot and ankle from the bestselling, Surgical Exposures in Orthopaedics. Thirty-five new approaches have been added covering the ankle, the hindfoot, the mid-foot, and the forefoot. Each chapter details the techniques and pitfalls of a surgical approach, gives a clear preview of anatomic landmarks and incisions, and highlights potential dangers of superficial and deep dissection. The approach section concludes with a description of how to enlarge the approach. After the presentation of the approach there is a section on the anatomy of each approach that covers the regional anatomy encountered during the approach. Featuring over 200 full-color illustrations, this atlas provides a surgeon’s-eye view of the relevant anatomy.

Book Description
The introduction of total joint arthroplasty throughout the world has contributed manifold benefits to patients who suffer from joint diseases. Concurrently, however, there has been an increase in revision surgery. Many orthopedic surgeons agree that durability of prostheses is an eternal problem. In particular, periprosthetic osteolysis recently has been identified as one of the serious problems affecting prosthetic dura bility. To improve durability, osteolysis and many other problems must be investi gated and solved both experimentally and clinically with respect to such aspects as prosthetic material, design, and biological and biomechanical behavior. This book comprises 37 papers that were presented by orthopedic surgeons and biomedical engineers at the 28th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society for Replace ment Arthroplasty, held in March 1998 in Kanazawa, Japan. The volume is thus a compilation of the latest knowledge about the pathogenesis and reduction of osteolysis and wear, newly developed total hip prostheses, and other current topics of total knee arthroplasty. We earnestly hope that this book will be of benefit to clinicians and researchers, and that it will contribute to the creation of more durable total joint prostheses in the future.
