Book Description
We live in a fragile world. Massive economic, spiritual, and political changes seem inevitable. Realistic prospects for a sustainable peace in the Middle East are more elusive than ever. How should we view the times in which we live? Will our generation witness the return of Jesus Christ to establish His leadership on the earth? The Finishing Well Series tackles serious subjects in an easy to read style for anyone desiring to live with understanding and purpose in these perplexing and challenging times. Finishing Life Well - Following the Leadership of Jesus - is about developing a personal and communal lifestyle based on the Sermon on the Mount values of Jesus' Kingdom. The Bible is not merely an ancient book of ideas; it is God's storyline for every generation. Finishing History Well - Preparing for the Leadership of Jesus gives an overview of major biblical End Time views and their implications. Paul Hughes also touches on how other religions, the arts, and philosophies imagine how human history will end. Will Cities Finish Well? - Regional Transformation under the Leadership of Jesus is coming in 2013. Cities are where the cultures of this world battle for the highest ground. The eternal values of Jesus' Kingdom conflict with the passing values of this world. Will cities shine with bright righteousness in a darkening world before the return of Jesus? Before founding Kingdom Forerunners in 2007, Paul Hughes served more than 25 years with the interdenominational campus ministry of InterVarsity Christian Fellowship. Paul and Lucy have been married for more than 30 years. They have three sons, one who is married, and live in Birmingham, Alabama.

A Purposeful Life
Author: Agitu Wodajo
Publisher: Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.
ISBN:
Category : Biography & Autobiography
Languages : en
Pages : 260
Book Description
A Purposeful Life outlines Agitu Wodajo's life's journey growing up in the 60s in Ethiopia; her experience studying and working in both Ethiopia and the United States; traveling the world; the adversities she faced in her life's journey, and how they shaped her life to empower others to bring change to the quality of their family lives and their communities. Agitu was born and raised in Nedjo, a small rural town in western Ethiopia. During her early life, girls' education was not common in Ethiopia, and the estimated illiteracy rate in the nation was ninety-five percent. But soon after she was born, her father accepted the Protestant Christian faith and purchased a property adjacent to a Swedish Mission School. As a result, she was able to start school at age six. However, despite that promising start, her father abandoned their family leaving her defenseless against a chain of problems: a horrific attack by a school director at the age of ten; she had traveled eighty-five kilometers by mule-back and on foot to attend high school, where she continued to face adversities. Even after she left school, tribulations followed, and she endured a very abusive marriage while fighting sexual harassment and persecution in her career. But the strong Christian foundation that has shaped her life since childhood, and the unyielding faith and optimism that she sustained through it all led her through the depths of adversity to heed the call to make a positive difference in the lives of others. Her story provides a bridge between the developing and developed worlds toward addressing our shared responsibility in making the world a better place. The NGOs she founded in both Ethiopia and the United States helped underprivileged women through services that build self-sufficiency, and policy-change advocacy that lift barriers. Agitu Wodajo has more than thirty years of extensive experience in the areas of women empowerment, healthcare, community/economic development, and social policy. She obtained diplomas in community nursing and as a pediatric nurse practitioner before she moved to the United States where she earned a bachelor of arts in human services from Metropolitan State University, an executive master of public affairs from the Humphrey School of Public Affairs/University of Minnesota as a Bush leadership fellow, and a PhD in Christian leadership from Christian Leadership University.

More Finish Lines to Cross
Author: Cary Clack
Publisher: Trinity University Press
ISBN: 1595342729
Category : History
Languages : en
Pages : 332
Book Description
Cary Clack has captured the hearts and minds of Texans since the mid-1990s, gaining a national reputation as an incisive and sensitive journalist and developing a significant following as a columnist. Originally from San Antonio, he worked with the Martin Luther King Jr. Center for Nonviolent Social Change in Atlanta (writing CNN commentaries for Coretta Scott King) to hone his communication skills and broaden his social sensibilities. Returning to his hometown, he quickly became known as a writer who profiled everyday heroes and captured stories unique to the Texas experience, adding a critical local perspective to national news. His columns are infused with a sense of humility and a keen examination of the humanness in others. Following sixteen years as a journalist, Clack pursued interests in politics, social policy, and service, including work with the mayor of San Antonio, U.S. congressman Joaquin Castro, and others. More Finish Lines to Cross is a collection of Clack’s best short- and long-form columns since his return to the San Antonio Express-News in 2019. It includes more than eighty pieces about the issues of the day, from Donald Trump, Joe Biden, and the war in Ukraine to the impact of COVID, the death of George Floyd, and the mass shooting of schoolchildren in Uvalde, Texas. Along the way we meet the people who influenced Clack, which in turn reminds us to reflect on how we become the people we are and what inspires us to be better members of our communities.
