Study of Conformal Antenna Array Beamforming Characteristics Using K-band Waveguide Elements
Author: Nithin Reddy Gudur
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category :
Languages : en
Pages : 84
Book Description
This project will focus on the application of advanced electromagnetic simulation software 4NEC2 for the far-field characterization of a 3-element K-band array of waveguide antenna. Previous modeling efforts have shown a significant difference between simulated and measured data. The key effort in this project will be to minimize the difference between simulated and measured data by use of the 4NEC2 software. The simulation will be carried out on both a 3-element array of open-ended waveguides. The main application of these arrays in the far-field is in satellite K-band applications, where we would require multiple beams that can be controlled in beamwidth and position. The conformal nature of the array described in this work has the ability to control the beam positions and beamwidth by adjusting the conformal nature of the array.

RF Antenna Beam Forming
Author: Shun-Ping Chen
Publisher: Springer Nature
ISBN: 3031217659
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 141
Book Description
This book is designed for both the scientific audience, research and development engineers and the university students. The fundamentals of radio frequency antenna beam forming is explained in this book. The principles of beam focusing and beam steering in near field and far field are visualized with 2D and 3D simulations and compared with measurement results. Besides linear and planar antenna arrays, also conformal arrays, i.e. concave and convex antenna arrays, suitable for certain applications, are investigated and presented. Also related applications of radio frequency beam forming like open loop and closed loop large scale antenna arrays or massive MIMO, which is one of the break-through technologies for 5G and future 6G and involves an extremely large number of antenna elements for the multi-user beam forming, as well as thinned antenna arrays with electrically large distances between the antenna elements are discussed.

Improved Experimental Study of Waveguide and Conical Horn X-band Arrays for Near-field Cancer Therapy Applications
Author: Feroz Khan
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category :
Languages : en
Pages : 96
Book Description
This project focuses on the study of 3-element array of open-ended waveguides and circular horn antenna operating in the X-band frequency range of 8-12GHz. The 3-element array consists of a center focusing element and two surrounding directing elements. The focusing element is adjusted such that it controls the focus of the array. Experimental studies have been performed in this project by using different array configurations and the measured results were compared with earlier simulation results obtained using the 4NEC2 antenna modeler and optimizer. The goal of our project is to achieve a closer match between simulated and measured near-field results, as compared to results obtained in prior projects. The eventual application of this study is for hyperthermia a treatment of cancer by focused microwave radiation on the affected area.
