It contained 3'per cent of water and was representative of the bitumi nous coal obtained from mines west of Ohio in the Central Western States. The, oil weighed pounds per gallon, or 322 pounds per barrel of 42 United States gallons. The figures give net evaporation after allowing for steam consumed to produce the forced draft necessary for burning the fuel.
