Notre étude a pour but de voir la nature de la dégradation sémantique dans la maladie d’Alzheimer (MA) car les mécanismes neuropsychologiques responsables de cela restent controversés. Des études ont avancé qu’elle est due à un déficit d’accès, à une atteinte du stock sémantique ou à une combinaison de ces deux mécanismes. Notre hypothèse est la suivante : aux premiers stades de la maladie, les patients présenteraient majoritairement un déficit d’accès puis, avec l’évolution de la maladie, nous aurions en plus une dégradation progressive du stock sémantique lui-même. Cette étude propose, pour vérifier cette hypothèse, d’évaluer deux groupes de malades d’Alzheimer (un avec des patients au stade léger, l’autre avec des patients à des stades plus avancés) avec la BECSGRECO (Batterie d’Évaluation des Connaissances Sémantiques du Groupe de Réflexion sur les Évaluations Cognitives) qui propose d’évaluer la mémoire sémantique à l’aide d’épreuves (dénomination, appariements sémantiques, questionnaires sémantiques) portant sur les mêmes items. Le traitement statistique des données obtenues a permis de voir que pour notre population, les résultats du groupe 1 sont toujours supérieurs à ceux du groupe 2 mais également que, dans le groupe 1, les patients présentent généralement un trouble d’accès au système sémantique et dans le groupe 2, un déficit du système sémantique. Ainsi, cette étude permet de vérifier, pour notre population, notre hypothèse de travail et ainsi d’apporter un soutien aux théories allant dans ce sens.
