Book Description
L'EVOLUTION DE LA MICROSTRUCTURE DE FILMS DE POLY(ETHYLENE TEREPHTALATE) (POLYMERE THERMOPLASTIQUE AMORPHE ET CRISTALLISABLE) A ETE ETUDIEE LORSQU'ILS SONT SOUMIS A UN TRAITEMENT MECANIQUE (MONO OU BI-ETIRAGE) ET A UN TRAITEMENT THERMIQUE. L'ETIRAGE EST EFFECTUE ENTRE LES TEMPERATURES DE TRANSITION VITREUSE ET DE CRISTALLISATION. A PARTIR D'UNE VALEUR CRITIQUE DU TAUX D'ETIRAGE (2,8), IL APPARAIT UNE PHASE CRISTALLINE INDUITE. L'EVOLUTION DE LA TEXTURE CRISTALLINE A ETE ETUDIEE PAR DIFFRACTION DES RAYONS X (DEBYE-SCHERRER ET FIGURES DE POLES). LES CHAINES S'ORIENTANT SELON LA/LES DIRECTION/S D'ETIRAGE, LES FIGURES DE POLES MONTRENT LE DEVELOPPEMENT D'UNE FORTE TEXTURE DE FIBRES. DE PLUS, DANS LE CAS DES FILMS BI-ETIRES, LES PLANS CRISTALLINS LES PLUS DENSES S'ORIENTENT PARALLELEMENT AUX FACES DES FILMS. DANS TOUS LES CAS, LA TAILLE DES CRISTAUX INDUITS PAR L'ETIRAGE EST PLUS PETITE QUE CELLE DES SPHEROLITES INITIES PAR LE CHAUFFAGE. LES DIFFERENTS FILMS ONT ETE ETUDIES PAR ANALYSE ENTHALPIQUE DIFFERENTIELLE, ANALYSE MECANIQUE DYNAMIQUE ET COURANTS DE DEPOLARISATION THERMOSTIMULES. IL A ETE MIS EN EVIDENCE L'EXISTENCE D'UNE PHASE SUPPLEMENTAIRE MESOMORPHE (A PARTIR D'UN TAUX D'ETIRAGE EGAL A 2). CETTE PHASE AMORPHE RIGIDE PREND NAISSANCE DANS LA PHASE AMORPHE. ELLE EST TRANSFORMEE EN UNE PHASE CRISTALLINE ANISOTROPE SI LE MATERIAU SUBIT UNE CONTRAINTE MECANIQUE OU THERMIQUE SUPPLEMENTAIRE. L'ANALYSE THERMIQUE DES FILMS PRE-CRISTALLISES PAR ETIRAGE, AYANT DES TAUX D'ETIRAGE INFERIEURS A 4,2, MONTRE L'EXISTENCE D'UNE CRISTALLISATION SUPPLEMENTAIRE INITIEE PAR LA CHALEUR. L'INFLUENCE DE L'ETIRAGE SUR LA TOPOLOGIE DE LA PHASE AMORPHE A EGALEMENT ETE ETUDIEE. NOUS AVONS MIS EN EVIDENCE L'EXISTENCE DE DEUX RELAXATIONS APPARAISSANT A DES TEMPERATURES INFERIEURES A LA TEMPERATURE DE TRANSITION VITREUSE. L'ANALYSE PAR COURANTS DE DEPOLARISATION THERMOSTIMULES MONTRE QUE L'AUGMENTATION DU TAUX D'ETIRAGE S'ACCOMPAGNE D'UNE LOCALISATION DE LA MOBILITE MOLECULAIRE

Book Description
Preface Adhesion is a phenomenon architects and civil engineers are not very familiar with. In other disciplines knowledge about surface properties and the background of bonding energies is also far from satisfactory; nevertheless there are many important· applications in concrete engineering, where adhesion is necessary for success and durability. These include: - coating and painting - repair of concrete surfaces - bonding of fresh to old concrete - crack injection - glueing of precast elements - glueing of steel to concrete, etc. In 1981 RILEM established the technical committee 52-RAC 'Resin Adherence to Concrete'. The main aims of the committee's work were - to collect research results and practical experiences - to initiate and coordinate research programs - to develop, on a scientific base, test methods for field and for laboratory purposes. One of the results of the committee's work is a state-of-the-art report, which will be presented orally as a General Report at the International Symposium ISAP '86, and will be printed either in the RILEM journal Materials and Structures or separately. Several test recommendations have been elaborated and will be prepared as drafts for the participants ofISAP '86. These are: - direct tensile test - pull-off test - direct shear test - slant shear test - four-point bending test - dynamic loading test - thermal compatibility test (two versions) - injectibility test.

Book Description
Composite materials have been well developed to meet the challenges of high-performing material properties targeting engineering and structural applications. The ability of composite materials to absorb stresses and dissipate strain energy is vastly superior to that of other materials such as polymers and ceramics, and thus they offer engineers many mechanical, thermal, chemical and damage-tolerance advantages with limited drawbacks such as brittleness. Composite Materials: Manufacturing, Properties and Applications presents a comprehensive review of current status and future directions, latest technologies and innovative work, challenges and opportunities for composite materials. The chapters present latest advances and comprehensive coverage of material types, design, fabrication, modelling, properties and applications from conventional composite materials to advanced composites such as nanocomposites, self-healing and smart composites. The book targets researchers in the field of advanced composite materials and ceramics, students of materials science and engineering at the postgraduate level, as well as material engineers and scientists working in industrial R& D sectors for composite material manufacturing. - Comprehensive coverage of material types, design, fabrication, modelling, properties and applications from conventional composite materials to advanced composites such as nanocomposites, self-healing and smart composites - Features latest advances in terms of mechanical properties and other material parameters which are essential for designers and engineers in the composite and composite reinforcement manufacturing industry, as well as all those with an academic research interest in the subject - Offers a good platform for end users to refer to the latest technologies and topics fitting into specific applications and specific methods to tackle manufacturing or material processing issues in relation to different types of composite materials

Book Description
Platform Chemical Biorefinery: Future Green Chemistry provides information on three different aspects of platform chemical biorefinery. The book first presents a basic introduction to the industry beneficial for university students, then provides engineering details of existing or potential platform chemical biorefinery processes helpful to technical staff of biorefineries. Finally, the book presents a critical review of the entire platform chemical biorefinery process, including extensive global biorefinery practices and their potential environmental and market-related consequences. Platform chemicals are building blocks of different valuable chemicals. The book evaluates the possibility of renewable feedstock-based platform chemical production and the fundamental challenges associated with this objective. Thus, the book is a useful reference for both academic readers and industry technical workers. The book guides the research community working in the field of platform chemical biorefinery to develop new pathways and technologies in combination with their market value and desirability. - Offers comprehensive coverage of platform chemicals biorefineries, recent advances and technology developments, potential issues for preventing commercialization, and solutions - Discusses existing technologies for platform chemicals production, highlighting benefits as well their possible adverse effects on the environment and food security - Includes a global market analysis of platform chemicals and outlines industry opportunities - Serves as a useful reference for both academic readers and industry technical workers
