Book Description
The Book of Theanna contains a collection of letters written by Ellias, which he began transcribing from Theanna (formerly Sara Lonsdale), his wife and twin soul, shortly after her death. They communicate and commune through a sacred impulse that rises from the Earth and descends from the Heavens. It is this very current that brings forth a path into the Age of Aquaria. In the course of these writings, Sara journeys to Heaven and Hell and the vast Lands in between. She paints vivid pictures of her encounters in each of these realms. Through the teachings she brings ways to break the crystallized shell holding us back from ultimate self-love and forgiveness. Waving the smelling salts through the words, she discusses illness, karma, the dark side, the Lord of Death, Christ, the death minds, and how to awaken to Truth. There is an immense need for Death’s truth to fully reveal itself. What this updated edition carries is a renewed and refreshed revelation—death is a different death than was ever possible before. It can now come forward in a redemptive fashion. Not just another account of life after death, not a channeled book in the usual sense, The Book of Theanna comes to break death’s spell with the power and intensity of Love from across the veil now returned to Earth.

Book Description
Henry James's Style of Retrospect examines the last twenty-five years in the writing life of Henry James (1843-1916), one of the most important novelists of the nineteenth century. It addresses a significantly under-appreciated dimension of James's late-life output: not his fiction, but rather the substantial body of retrospective and commemorative non-fiction (the 'late personal writings' of the title) which he began to produce in the 1890s, and whichcame to assume a leading role in the last phase of his career. It addresses these works from a literary-critical viewpoint, analysing the way James's style changed in response to the conditions imposed onhim--but also the opportunities revealed to him--by the project of writing about the real past; the book's main contribution is to develop a cumulative analysis of his style in the period 1890DS 1915. It also has a biographical aspect, however, and tells a story of his professional and emotional life in these years that particularly emphasises his investment in historical and personal continuity, his sense of the duties of commemoration, and his interest in the experiences of ageing andremembering.

Book Description
Domestic advice literature is rich in information about design, ideals of domesticity, consumption and issues of identity, yet this literature remains a relatively neglected resource in comparison with magazines and film. Design at Home brings together etiquette, homemaking and home decoration advice as sources in the first systematic demonstration of the historical value of domestic advice literature as a genre of word and image, and a discourse of dominance. This book traces a transatlantic domestic dialogue between the UK and the US as the chapters explore issues of design, domesticity, consumption, social interaction and identity markers including class, gender and age. Areas covered include: • the use of domestic advice by historians • relationships between advice, housing and the middle class • links between advice and gender • advice and the teenage consumer Design at Home is essential reading for students and scholars of cultural and social history, design history, and cultural studies.

Book Description
What would stoic ethics be like today if stoicism had survived as a systematic approach to ethical theory, if it had coped successfully with the challenges of modern philosophy and experimental science? A New Stoicism proposes an answer to that question, offered from within the stoic tradition but without the metaphysical and psychological assumptions that modern philosophy and science have abandoned. Lawrence Becker argues that a secular version of the stoic ethical project, based on contemporary cosmology and developmental psychology, provides the basis for a sophisticated form of ethical naturalism, in which virtually all the hard doctrines of the ancient Stoics can be clearly restated and defended. Becker argues, in keeping with the ancients, that virtue is one thing, not many; that it, and not happiness, is the proper end of all activity; that it alone is good, all other things being merely rank-ordered relative to each other for the sake of the good; and that virtue is sufficient for happiness. Moreover, he rejects the popular caricature of the stoic as a grave figure, emotionally detached and capable mainly of endurance, resignation, and coping with pain. To the contrary, he holds that while stoic sages are able to endure the extremes of human suffering, they do not have to sacrifice joy to have that ability, and he seeks to turn our attention from the familiar, therapeutic part of stoic moral training to a reconsideration of its theoretical foundations.

Book Description
Words as Medicine What to say to your children to get them through the bumps, bruises, and crises of childhood. Falling off a bike, having a bad dream, getting stitches...sometimes a kiss isn't enough to make it all better. But what you say to your child in those first moments of pain or fear could make all the difference. Using techniques the authors have taught to doctors, nurses, and first responders, Verbal First Aid(tm) explains how words can be used to promote healing from burns, bruises, nightmares, asthma attacks, and more. It provides scripts and tips on how to short-circuit traumatic memories, sometimes just by speaking a sentence or two. This revolutionary book gives parents the responses they need to immediately stabilize their children's emotions. And these methods will build a foundation of confidence and inner strength that will help kids heal at the deepest level, and weather whatever hardships and difficulties they encounter throughout life.
