Book Description
Prevention of mental illness and mental health promotion have often been ignored in the past, both in undergraduate and postgraduate curricula. Recently, however, there has been a clear shift towards public mental health, as a result of increasing scientific evidence that both these actions have a serious potential to reduce the onset of illness and subsequent burden as a result of mental illness and related social, economic and political costs. A clear distinction between prevention of mental illness and mental health promotion is critical. Selective prevention, both at societal and individual level, is an important way forward. The Oxford Textbook of Public Mental Health brings together the increasing interest in public mental health and the growing emphasis on the prevention of mental ill health and promotion of well-being into a single comprehensive textbook. Comprising international experiences of mental health promotion and mental well-being, chapters are supplemented with practical examples and illustrations to provide the most relevant information succinctly. This book will serve as an essential resource for mental and public health professionals, as well as for commissioners of services, nurses and community health visitors.

Book Description
Through the analysis of specific policy areas in Scotland and a consideration of key social issues, this work examines devolved policy in a number of specific areas, and the changes wrought by the first decade and more of devolution in those areas. Each chapter considers specific aspects of social policy in Scotland, and the final chapter addresses whether the founding principles of Scottish devolution have transferred from principles to policy. The various ideas and themes all relate to the core ideas that underpinned devolution and the creation of the Scottish Parliament. While policy areas are directly addressed within most chapters, others consider class, equality, and the removal of the democratic deficit. This work judges whether these larger issues, as well as individual areas of social policy, have been better addressed within contemporary Scottish society since devolution took place.

Book Description
The World Health Organization approximates that 350 million people worldwide are affected by depression and anxiety as a leading cause of disability worldwide (World Health Organization, 2018). Nutritional Psychiatry as “Mental Health Nutrition” is an emerging field that explores the changes that how nutritional interventions can maintain one's mental health. Researches indicate that the foods we consume significantly influence our brain function and gut health, which in turn shape our mental health and behaviour. Ensuring dietary intake of essential vitamins and minerals is vital for optimal mental health. Minerals, especially choline, zinc, magnesium, iron and iodine have important roles in neurological function through production of neurotransmitters. Insufficient levels of vitamins: Vitamin D, Folic Acid and Vitamin B Complex give a rise in levels of both anxiety and depression. Methylation is an important process in the body that prevents the build-up of homocysteine, a substance that may be toxic to the brain. Folate and vitamin B12 are both crucially required to prevent accumulation of homocysteine that may be toxic to brain. Similarly, omega-3 fatty acids and amino acid- specially tryptophan is needed to create a mood-modulating chemicals serotonin and functioning of nervous system. Besides the foregoing, cysteine, a sulphur-based amino acid gets converted into glutathione: the body’s most powerful antioxidant. When cysteine is given as a supplement known as N-acetyl cysteine, itis converted into glutathione, evidently helpful in treatment of bipolar depression, schizophrenia, and other neurotic and addictive behaviours. Conclusively nutritional psychiatry is supplementation of essential nutrients should be acknowledged as a treatment to maintain good mental health and wellbeing.
