La complexité des phénomènes physiques mis en jeu et les performances limitées de l’instrumentation disponible imposent la mise en œuvre de méthodes particulières de traitement de l’information fournie par les capteurs. Nous proposons l’application aux signaux d’émission acoustique de l’analyse factorielle qui permet de mettre en évidence les différents mécanismes mis en jeu. Une méthode basée sur l’évolution d’une moyenne glissante offre une possibilité nouvelle de suivre en temps réel l’évolution de l’endommagement. Des exemples d’applications sur des assemblages d’éléments de structure en alliage d’aluminium illustrent l’efficacité de cette méthode.
