This report presents a cost analysis of second generation Ethanol production from wood chips via a thermochemical process. In this process, biomass is subjected to gasification generating syngas. From syngas, methanol and then dimethyl ether (DME) are synthesized. Finally, DME undergoes a hydrocarbonylation reaction generating hydrous Ethanol product.
