Además, explica que la naturaleza de las observaciones es estocástica en la mayoría de las ciencias observacionales, y están sujetas a errores accidentales provenientes de los métodos de observación o de la inexactitud de los instrumentos de medida. La sustentabilidad se fundamenta en la práctica para lograr un equilibrio social, económico y ambiental que se sostenga en el tiempo y a la vez genere una alta calidad de vida para las personas.
