The investigation was designed to test the applicability of existing idealized theories to the prediction of equilibrium characteristics of laboratory sand beaches. Two different sediment motion equilibrium criteria are considered; the first, in which the moments on a stationary particle are in equilibrium, is called incipient motion and the second, in which the particle is oscill i g i h o t mo io is called establis d motion.
