A emergência do novo coronavírus da Síndrome Respiratória Aguda Grave, SARS-CoV-2, responsável pela rápida difusão global da pandemia da Doença do Coronavírus 2019, popularmente conhecida como COVID-19, trouxe significativos impactos na rotina de desenvolvimento das relações humanas devido aos contextos de isolamento social, o que repercutiu na conformação de novas estratégias de execução das atividades. No contexto educacional, as estratégias adotadas durante a pandemia da COVID-19 incluíram os desafios para a digitalização das atividades acadêmicas devido a restrições tecnológicas ou despreparo humano de alunos e professores, repercutindo em ampliação de assimetrias pré-existentes e estragos aos processos de ensino-aprendizagem, embora eventualmente algumas situações pontuais de aceleração da tendência de mudanças rumo à virtualização do ensino tenham acontecido. Partindo desta temática, o objetivo do livro “Educação & Pandemia: Ensaios Temáticos” é analisar a realidade do campo educacional brasileiro no contexto de difusão multilateral da pandemia da COVID-19, por meio de uma agenda de estudos que analisa desde as transformações nas estratégias de ensino-aprendizagem, passando pela apreensão na realidade de professores e alunos, até se chegar a uma análise de micro e macro impactos na educação e no contexto escolar. Domestic servitude blurs the divide between family and work, affection and duty, the home and the world. In Cultures of Servitude, Raka Ray and Seemin Qayum offer an ethnographic account of domestic life and servitude in contemporary Kolkata, India, with a concluding comparison with New York City. Focused on employers as well as servants, men as well as women, across multiple generations, they examine the practices and meaning of servitude around the home and in the public sphere. This book shifts the conversations surrounding domestic service away from an emphasis on the crisis of transnational care work to one about the constitution of class. It reveals how employers position themselves as middle and upper classes through evolving methods of servant and home management, even as servants grapple with the challenges of class and cultural distinction embedded in relations of domination and inequality.
