Book Description
Urban Apologetics examines the legitimate issues that Black communities have with Western Christianity and shows how the gospel of Jesus Christ—rather than popular, socioreligious alternatives—restores our identity. African Americans have long confronted the challenge of dignity destruction caused by white supremacy. While many have found meaning and restoration of dignity in the black church, others have found it in ethnocentric socioreligious groups and philosophies. These ideologies have grown and developed deep traction in the black community and beyond. Revisionist history, conspiracy theories, and misinformation about Jesus and Christianity are the order of the day. Many young African Americans are disinterested in Christianity and others are leaving the church in search of what these false religious ideas appear to offer, a spirituality more indigenous to their history and ethnicity. Edited by Dr. Eric Mason and featuring a top-notch lineup of contributors, Urban Apologetics is the first book focused entirely on cults, religious groups, and ethnocentric ideologies prevalent in the black community. The book is divided into three main parts: Discussions on the unique context for urban apologetics so that you can better understand the cultural arguments against Christianity among the Black community. Detailed information on cults, religious groups, and ethnic identity groups that many urban evangelists encounter—such as the Nation of Islam, Kemetic spirituality, African mysticism, Hebrew Israelites, Black nationalism, and atheism. Specific tools for urban apologetics and community outreach. Ultimately, Urban Apologetics applies the gospel to black identity to show that Jesus is the only one who can restore it. This is an essential resource to equip those doing the work of ministry and apology in urban communities with the best available information.

Book Description
The shift in moral standards across the world has changed dramatically in the last eighty years. The shift has not been good for society, and the influence of Satan has grown. Once a God-fearing and loving society, we are now a God-ignoring and self-satisfying nation. The Ten Commandments, once considered vital, are now treated as less than ten suggestions. We have moved so far away from a God-centered world that I suspect He will do something dramatic to regain our attention. We have probably passed the point of no return in our relationship with our Creator. Mary and many Saints have warned that we need to return to Him, and I believe that only some divine intervention will bring us home to Him. My children and grandchildren didn't have the religious education we had. Most of them can't answer the question, "Why did God make you?" So I am asking you who had a solid religious education and belief to share that education with the young people. I have taken on the job of praying my children and grandchildren into heaven. If you agree, please join me. Ask the Father in Jesus's name to bring us home for eternity. Live and share the reason God made you. Tell the children what you learned; to know Him, to love Him, and serve Him. This is the purpose of our existence. Share it with the ones we love deeply. We live in His world. No matter what man tries to do, He is still, and always will be, in charge. In my judgment, the only power strong enough to coordinate all the confusion we've seen in the world today is Satanic power. Satan is constantly on the attack, but we have the power on our side to overcome his influence. In the end, Jesus will triumph coming in glory. His love and mercy is endless and will be shared by those who make an effort to do the will of the Father. The sisters taught us about the sacraments. Talk to your children and grandchildren about them. Encourage them to go to confession and to attend mass, and God will take care of them. Don't be afraid. He put us here and now for a reason, and I believe the reason is for us to help each other to know, love, and serve Him. Let's pray them into heaven with us. It has been two years getting this book to print. The changes in the world condition over that time has deteriorated significantly. Knowing the reason of our existence has become even more crucial than it was two years ago. The Russians have invaded Ukraine, and their action threatens world safety. Mary warned us of this threat over one hundred years ago. We are past time in listening to her words of warning. This week in March 2022, the Ukrainian bishops are pleading with the Pope to consecrate Russia to Mary. While we wait to see how the world situation unfolds, we might renew our own consecration to Mary and to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The world is praying for peace. I believe it is time to do more than to ask God for favors. It is time, past time, to add actions to our prayers taking Tom's example by the practice of fasting and other forms of self-sacrifice. I need to stop asking and to start doing. He doesn't need my sacrifice, but He loves my surrender. I witnessed a beautiful sign on the first Friday of March. The morning mass usually has thirty-five or so attendees. On this last first Friday, there were over 120. People are responding to Mary's call. If you haven't joined her yet, please do for your benefit, your children's benefit, and for the salvation of the world. Thank you again.

Book Description
In this timely, much-needed book, theologian, social psychologist, and activist Christena Cleveland recounts her personal journey to dismantle the cultural “whitemalegod” and uncover the Sacred Black Feminine, introducing a Black Female God who imbues us with hope, healing, and liberating presence. For years, Christena Cleveland spoke about racial reconciliation to congregations, justice organizations, and colleges. But she increasingly felt she could no longer trust in the God she’d been implicitly taught to worship—a white male God who preferentially empowered white men despite his claim to love all people. A God who clearly did not relate to, advocate for, or affirm a Black woman like Christena. Her crisis of faith sent her on an intellectual and spiritual journey through history and across France, on a 400-mile walking pilgrimage to the ancient shrines of Black Madonnas to find healing in the Sacred Black Feminine. God Is a Black Woman is the chronicle of her liberating transformation and a critique of a society shaped by white patriarchal Christianity and culture. Christena reveals how America’s collective idea of God as a white man has perpetuated hurt, hopelessness, and racial and gender oppression. Integrating her powerful personal story, womanist ideology, as well as theological, historical, and social science research, she invites us to take seriously the truth that God is not white nor male and gives us a new and hopeful path for connecting with the divine and honoring the sacredness of all Black people.

Book Description
"The 2012 killing of Trayvon Martin, an African-American teenager in Florida, and the subsequent acquittal of his killer, brought public attention to controversial "Stand Your Ground" laws. The verdict, as much as the killing, sent shock waves through the African-American community, recalling a history of similar deaths, and the long struggle for justice. On the Sunday morning following the verdict, black preachers around the country addressed the question, "Where is the justice of God? What are we to hope for?" This book is an attempt to take seriously social and theological questions raised by this and similar stories, and to answer black church people's questions of justice and faith in response to the call of God. But Kelly Brown Douglas also brings another significant interpretative lens to this text: that of a mother. "There has been no story in the news that has troubled me more than that of Trayvon Martin's slaying. President Obama said that if he had a son his son would look like Trayvon. I do have a son and he does look like Trayvon." Her book will also affirm the "truth" of a black mother's faith in these times of stand your ground."--

Book Description
Jesus Christ is arguably the most famous man who ever lived. His image adorns countless churches, icons, and paintings. He is the subject of millions of statues, sculptures, devotional objects and works of art. Everyone can conjure an image of Jesus: usually as a handsome, white man with flowing locks and pristine linen robes. But what did Jesus really look like? Is our popular image of Jesus overly westernized and untrue to historical reality? This question continues to fascinate. Leading Christian Origins scholar Joan E. Taylor surveys the historical evidence, and the prevalent image of Jesus in art and culture, to suggest an entirely different vision of this most famous of men. He may even have had short hair.
