Book Description
The purpose of this project has been to study, operate and program the 32-bit 150MIPS TMS320F2812 DSP developed by Texas Instruments Inc. In addition, it has also been a goal to implement fast estimation techniques for control of resonant converters. For this purpose, PWM signals that are generated using this DSP are used. The demands on the system and the hardware to solve the problem were already decided when I started the work. The algorithms were programmed in C/C++ language, compiled, debugged and transferred to the DSP development board in a compiling and simulation tool (downloader), called CCS (Code Composer Studio v2), also provided by Texas Instruments. In the first chapters of this study I give general information about control systems, digital signal processors, digital signal processing and the DSP used in this work. The following chapters tell about PWM, how to configure the PWM outputs and some examples related with PWM signals are given. After a short review of series resonant converters, I presented the last example implemented in this project. I conclude with a summary and provide some hints of future work.

Book Description
Many types of devices based on power converters have been proposed and studied for utility applications. In recent years most of the control systems for these converters have been digital. Unfortunately, such digital controllers, which are often based on a digital signal processor (DSP), are difficult to model in simulation. Thus, hardware prototypes are usually required. This thesis presents a tool for fast prototyping that helps overcome these difficulties. Namely, a hardware-in-the-loop simulation is provided for the digital controller in order to evaluate control algorithms without the voltage source converter and power system. The controller in the loop design methodology is described and the division between the real-time power system model and the hardware controller with an interface is shown. Also, the modulation type, integration time step selection and synchronization between the controller and the real-time system simulation are discussed. The hardware configuration for the real-time simulator and the software implementation of the simulator is discussed. In this thesis an example application of a shunt active compensator following this formal procedure is presented. The active compensator prototyping was first developed in MATLAB/Simulink. Then, following a formal design procedure, the power system was modeled in a digital simulator and the controller was implemented in a digital controller board. Finally, a hardware-in-the-loop test was carried out to validate the performance of the hardware controller for the active compensator. Although the tools and methods presented here are aimed at shunt connected current controller application, they may be generalized for use in the development of any digitally controlled power electronic converter.

Book Description
The energy transition initiated in recent years has enabled the growing integration of renewable production into the energy mix. Microgrids make it possible to maximize the efficiency of energy transmission from source to consumer by bringing the latter together geographically and by reducing losses linked to transport. However, the lack of inertia and the micro-grid support system makes it weak, and energy storage is necessary to ensure its proper functioning. Current storage technologies do not make it possible to provide both a large capacity of energy and power at the same time. Hybrid storage is a solution that combines the advantages of several technologies and reduces their disadvantages. Modeling and Control of Static Converters for Hybrid Storage Systems covers the modeling, control theorems, and optimization techniques that solve many scientific problems for researchers in the field of power converter control for renewable energy hybrid storage and places particular emphasis on the modeling and control of static converters for hybrid storage systems. Covering topics ranging from energy storage to power generation, this book is ideal for automation engineers, electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, professionals, scientists, academicians, master's and doctoral students, and researchers in the disciplines of electrical and mechanical engineering.

Book Description
Power applications like motor drives, inverters have complex algorithms that can be used to improve their efficiency. More often reduced manufacturing cost takes precedence over better efficiency. DSPs with their high computational power can provide reduced cost and higher efficiency. Though the cost of a standalone DSP chip has reduced, its integration to form a complete embedded product is an area often overlooked. High frequency of operation, reduced package size, and sensitivity to component placement are some of the factors that affect the interface between input/output devices and the DSP. This thesis presents the design and development of an embedded DSP controller board using TI's TMS320F2808. A three phase Space Vector PWM inverter is constructed and used to test the DSP board. This thesis also compares Space Vector PWM with other carrier based modulation schemes.
