Danish Foreign Policy Yearbook 2017
Author: Kristian Fischer
Publisher:
ISBN: 9788776058708
Category :
Languages : en
Pages : 188
Book Description
Danish Foreign Policy Yearbook 2017 contains an overview of Danish foreign policy and Denmark's regional and global role. The academic articles also cover the so-called Greenland Card - how may Greenland's strategic importance for the United States strengthen Denmark in Washington - and Denmark's refugee policy as an example of negative 'nation branding' like: 'don't come to us, go to your neighbor'. These articles are abstracted in English and Danish at the outset of chapter one. Minister for Foreign Affairs Anders Samuelsen assesses the international situation and Danish foreign policy, and Minister of Defence Klaus Hjort Frederiksen writes about Denmark in a time of changing security environment. The Yearbook also includes key statistics, option polls and a bibliography.

Analysing the Foreign Policy of Small States in the EU
Author: H. Larsen
Publisher: Springer
ISBN: 0230511422
Category : Political Science
Languages : en
Pages : 257
Book Description
Can a distinct national foreign policy still be identified for small EU member states, and what accounts for the balance between national and EU foreign policy? Henrik Larsen develops an analytical framework for analyzing these questions and offers solutions through an empirical examination of the foreign policy of a small EU member state in the context of EU foreign policy - the case of Denmark. The book looks at seven policy areas: policy towards other EU member states, anti-terrorism, development, the Balkans, Africa, Latin America and trade. On the basis of the empirical study, the implications for the theoretical study of national foreign policy in an EU Context are outlined. It is suggested that we need a new, mixed approach to foreign policy analysis within the EU taking into account the nature of the policy area concerned and national conceptions of actorness.

Book Description
Danish Foreign Policy and the activities of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2013 were marked by the continuing economic and political diffusion of power on the global stage – a development that generates dynamism and new opportunities in the globalised world, but also challenges the position of Europe. The Permanent Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs describes the political and economic developments in the world – which have led to a far-reaching reorganisation of Danish diplomatic representations abroad – and analyses the most important Danish foreign policy priorities of 2013. The article emphasizes trends in the EU, in international security, and regarding the Arctic and the transatlantic dimensions, as well as developments in the Middle East, Asia and Africa, and finally global development trends.
