Book Description
During their last adventure, Zak Nine and Erro found a mapping device in a crashed Prison ship. Following the map, the boys make their way to the Plateau of Leng, a vast desert on Planet Alcatraz. Other than an occasional giant scorpion, the boys seem to be safe on the endless sands until they spring a deadly trap! Huge rocky walls spring up from beneath the sand, grinding against each other and forming into walls, passageways, and stone cages. Will the boys be fast enough to avoid getting trapped forever on this hot, desert plain?

Crystal Identification with the Polarizing Microscope
Author: R.E. Stoiber
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 1461523877
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 374
Book Description
Some of the simpler measurements of optical mineralogy are so precise and powerful that they give satisfaction to beginning students. Not long after mastering the strike and dip of rock surfaces with the Brunton compass, many geology students are able to determine precisely the identity of quartz, or the anorthite content of plagioclase, or the magne sium ratio of pyroxene with the polarizing or petrographic microscope, by means of measuring refractive index to better than one part in a thousand. Very little training and almost no theory are needed to achieve these skills. But there inevitably comes a time when theory is needed, either to get on with the art, or simply to reconstruct from first principles what is going on, when rote memory fails. In this book we hope to provide both the rote methods and the theoretical background for practitioners at all levels of experience. We draw from several careers-ours, our colleagues', and our students' -in teaching the subject at various levels of sophistication. Our book is intended to serve the needs of industrial and forensic scientists as well as petrogra phers who deal with rocks. Much of our treatment is based on new research, both in matters of presentation and in the optical determination of minerals and other materials.

Languages : en
Pages : 263
Book Description
Lucifer, the Son of the Morning and the worship leader of Heaven, has been subverting the angels of the celestial kingdom with his destiny doctrine. He plans to overthrow the Creator and usurp His throne, but he needs to know what the Father is planning. There is only one way. One of the rebel angels needs to be in a position of trust within the Father's inner circle to keep Lucifer informed of any moves against him. As the rebellious angel leader plans his mutiny, he realizes that a newly created angel named Noriel holds the position of Creative And Familiarization Assistant to the Father and as such would be an ideal spy. Lucifer targets Noriel to join his cause and be part of the heaven-wide movement to which millions of angels, fully one third, have already subscribed. From out of the whispers and the shadow world of rebellion come pride, arrogance, deception, and lies that lead to open warfare and a battle for control of Heaven and the throne of the Father. Noriel must decide who he will follow as he comes to grips with attitudes and feelings that have never existed before in the history of heaven.
