Book Description
A portion of the profits from the sale of this book will be donated to the organization that helped change my life. ARMS believes it's not enough to manage anger. Year after year, they prove that recovery is possible. I'm living proof. You've already surmised that this is not a scientific book about anger. There are many of them. Rather, this is the story of my moving from a life of anger to a new experience of rest, joy, and love. A number of transformations needed to happen in my thinking and behaviors in order to bring me to this new place. If you are angry, I hope these happen for you. This is my confession.I have been angry almost my whole life. I'm talking about the type of anger that resembles a landmine. You don't always see it, but it is there, buried in the personality, and when something triggers it, people get seriously hurt. I estimated I had 837,841 episodes of anger, control, and domination from age eighteen until fifty-seven. That is an average of nearly sixty incidents per day. That's sixty-not sixteen, and definitely not six. Something had to change. Actually, a lot had to change. Compassion is at the heart of writing this book. Everything in it describes the belief changes that needed to happen in my thinking so I could successfully practice processing fear, hurt, and anger in much healthier ways.I wrote this book to influence men to find the help I found. So their wives would be drawn to their loving husbands instead of drastically thinking how to flee. So their children would love their dads rather than being fearful of a dad who acts as an enemy. If you are an angry man, I plead with you to do the one act that no one else can do for you. Be willing to change.

Book Description
As an ordained minister, I've recently begun having a recurring nightmare. It goes something like this: I'm in a dim and damp basement room, a light bulb swinging from the ceiling, and a pair of interrogators standing over me. There's the well-meaning one and there's the bad, unpredictable, aggressive one. I anxiously wonder how many members from my congregation they have crammed into the room behind the two-way mirror. As I begin to sweat under my clerical collar, I feel stuck to the rusty, metal folding chair. Trying to keep my wits intact, I feel a paralyzing dread washing over me. Good Cop: Do you believe in God the Father Almighty? Me: Um...Mostly? Bad Cop: It is a yes or no question! Me: Yes. I think. I don't know. Can I be a "sort of "or a "maybe?" Good Cop: No. Me: But what do you mean by "believe" and "in" and "God"? Also, I am trying to steer away from patriarchal language and using human characteristics to describe God. So, I guess I'm out with God as the Father. Unlike other religious tell-all accounts, Doubting Faithfully: Confessions of a Skeptical Pastor articulates what a spiritual nomadic quest of an active leader of the Sunday morning faithful feels like from the other side of the pews-a confession most other clergy might prefer to keep hidden.

Book Description
Paul's letters stand at the center of the dispute over women, the church, and the home, with each side championing passages from the Apostle. Now, in a challenging new attempt to wrestle with these thorny texts, Craig Keener delves as deeply into the world of Paul and the apostles as anyone thus far. Acknowledging that we must take the biblical text seriously, and recognizing that Paul's letters arose in a specific time and place for a specific purpose, Keener mines the historical, lexical, cultural, and exegetical details behind Paul's words about women in the home and ministry to give us one of the most insightful expositions of the key Pauline passages in years.

Book Description
Does it really matter? Does it matter if we have free will? Does it matter if Calvinism is true? And does what you think about it matter? No and yes. No, it doesn't matter because God is who he is and does what he does regardless of what we think of him, just as the solar system keeps spinning around the sun even if we're convinced it spins around the earth. Our opinions about God will not change God, but they can change us. And so yes, it does matter because the conversations about free will and Calvinism confront us with perhaps the only question that really matters: who is God? This is a book about that question--a book about the Bible, black holes, love, sovereignty, hell, Romans 9, Jonathan Edwards, John Piper, C. S. Lewis, Karl Barth, and a little girl in a red coat. You've heard arguments, but here's a story--Austin Fischer's story, and his journey in and out of Calvinism on a trip to the center of the universe.

Book Description
Christianity is messy. Unanswered prayers. Painful choices. Unresolved regrets. We’re called to have faith, and yet we doubt. We try to be perfect, but we fall short. This is the chaos. It’s all around us. There’s no limit to it. And there’s no quick fix for it.Both annoyingly honest and refreshingly humorous, Messy reassures Christians that God can reveal Himself in their clutter. Author and pastor A.J. Swoboda offers biblical insight and vivid, personal stories to redefine faith from something that must be perfect to something that is imperfect, but can still give beauty, meaning, and purpose to a messy life. As entertaining as it is challenging, this book teaches Christians what it means to trust in each other, in grace, in hope, and in a Savior who defied the rules of death. Here’s to finding joy in your chaos!
