Book Description
Digital computers have been used more and more to control different industrial processes during the last decade. As of today, many sy stems are designed to include a process control computer as a vital part. The use of computers has created a need for sophisticated me thods for the operation and supervision of complex industrial proces ses. To summarize the state of the art from the practical as well as from the theoretical point of view, the 4th IFACIIFIP International Conference on "Digital Computer Applications to Process Control" will be held at Zurich from March 19 to 22, 1974. The first two vo lumes of the proceedings contain the accepted papers submitted to the conference mentioned above. The papers are arranged according to the topics of the conference. A third volume will include the six follow ing survey papers: 1. Digital Control Algorithms Prof. A. P. Sage, Dallas Texas I USA 2. Interface Problems for Process Control Prof. T. J. Williams, Lafayette Indiana I USA 3. Software for Process Computers Dr. J. Gertler, Budapest I Hungary Dr. J. Sedlak, Prague I CSSR 4. Digital Computer Applications in Metallurgical Processes Mr. W. Book Description
About the book... The book provides an integrated treatment of continuous-time and discrete-time systems for two courses at postgraduate level, or one course at undergraduate and one course at postgraduate level. It covers mainly two areas of modern control theory, namely; system theory, and multivariable and optimal control. The coverage of the former is quite exhaustive while that of latter is adequate with significant provision of the necessary topics that enables a research student to comprehend various technical papers. The stress is on interdisciplinary nature of the subject. Practical control problems from various engineering disciplines have been drawn to illustrate the potential concepts. Most of the theoretical results have been presented in a manner suitable for digital computer programming along with the necessary algorithms for numerical computations.

Book Description
Give, and it shall be given unto you. ST. LUKE, VI, 38. The book is based on several courses of lectures on control theory and appli cations which were delivered by the authors for a number of years at Moscow Electronics and Mathematics University. The book, originally written in Rus sian, was first published by Vysshaya Shkola (Higher School) Publishing House in Moscow in 1989. In preparing a new edition of the book we planned to make only minor changes in the text. However, we soon realized that we like many scholars working in control theory had learned many new things and had had many new insights into control theory and its applications since the book was first published. Therefore, we rewrote the book especially for the English edition. So, this is substantially a new book with many new topics. The book consists of an introduction and four parts. Part One deals with the fundamentals of modern stability theory: general results concerning stability and instability, sufficient conditions for the stability of linear systems, methods for determining the stability or instability of systems of various type, theorems on stability under random disturbances.

Book Description
Explores mathematical basis for developing and evaluating continuous and discrete systems In this revised Second Edition of Introduction to System Science with MATLABĀ®, the authors Gary Sandquist and Zakary Wilde provide a comprehensive exploration of essential concepts, mathematical framework, analytical resources, and productive skills required to address any rational system confidently and adequately for quantitative evaluation. This Second Edition is supplemented with new updates to the mathematical and technical materials from the first edition. A new chapter to assist readers to generalize and execute algorithms for systems development and analysis, as well as an expansion of the chapter covering specific system science applications, is included. The book provides the mathematical basis for developing and evaluating single and multiple input/output systems that are continuous or discrete. It offers the mathematical basis for the recognition, definition, quantitative modeling, analysis, and evaluation in system science. The book also provides: Comprehensive introduction to system science and the principles of causality, cause and effect operations, including their historical and scientific background Complete exploration of fundamental systems concepts and basic system equations, including definitions and classifications Practical applications and discussions of single-input systems, multiple-input systems, and system modeling and evaluation In-depth examination of generalized system analysis methods and specific system science applications Perfect for upper-level undergraduate and graduate students in engineering, mathematics, and physical sciences. Introduction to System Science with MATLABĀ® will also earn a prominent place in libraries of researchers in the life and social sciences.

Book Description
This book is written for use as a text in an introductory course in control systems. The classical as well as the state space approach is included and integrated as much as possible. The first part of the book deals with analysis in the time domain. All the graphical techniques are presented in one chapter and the latter part of the book deals with some advanced material. It is intended that the student should already be familiar with Laplace transformations and have had an introductory course in circuit analysis or vibration theory. To provide the student with an understanding of correlation concepts in control theory, a new chapter dealing with stochastic inputs has been added. Also Appendix\A has been significantly expanded to cover the theory of Laplace transforms and z-transforms. The book includes worked examples and problems for solution and an extensive bibliography as a guide for further reading.

Book Description
Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences was first conceived, published, and dis seminated by the Center for lnformation and Numerica/ Data Analysis and Synthesis (C/NDAS) * at Purdue University in 1957, starting its coverage of theses with the academic year 1955. Beginning with Volume 13, the printing and dissemination phases of the ac tivity were transferred to University Microfilms/Xerox of Ann Arbor, Michigan, with the thought that such an arrangement would be more beneficia! to the academic and general scientific and technical community. After fi ve years of this joint undertaking we had concluded that it was in the interest of ali concerned if the printing and distribution of the volume were handled by an international publishing house to assure improved service and broader dissemination. Hence, starting with Volume 18, Masters Theses in the Pure and App/ied Sciences has been disseminated on a worldwide basis by Plenum Publishing Corporation of New York, and in the same year the coverage was broadened to include Canadian universities. Ali back issues can also be ordered from Plenum. We have reported in Volume 21 (thesis year 1976) a total of 10,586 theses titles from 25 Canadian and 219 United States universities. We are sure that this broader base for theses titles reported will greatly enhance the value of this important annual reference work.
