L'usage des capteurs à fibres optiques devient pratique courante en Génie Civil, et ce typiquement pour les mesures de déformations à coeur ou en surface des matériaux de structures. Les performances métrologiques atteintes d'une telle instrumentation en conditions réelles d'emploi, et en particulier dans le béton, dépendent de l'effet de filtrage créé à la fois par la structure du capteur, les interfaces entre l'environnement et l'élément sensible, la présence d'hétérogénéités, et l'effet d'inclusion au sein du matériau d'emploi. Certaines informations sont accessibles (ex. : grandeurs géometriques). D'autres au contraire, sont déterminées à partir d'hypothèses et de validations expérimentales (ex. :comportements d'un assemblage de matériaux aux propriétés physico-mécaniques différentes). Pour mieux comprendre les phénomènes mis en jeu, et faciliter ainsi à l'utilisateur l'interprétation des informations délivrées par les fibres optiques, des simulations numériques par éléments finis ont été réalisées. Plusieurs modèles ont été testés, en examinant notamment l'influence de la rigidité, des conditions d'ancrage et de la géométrie des capteurs. Parallèlement, des comparaisons ont été effectuées avec des expérimentations réalisées en laboratoire. Des recommandations ont pu ainsi être tirées de ces études, pour l'amélioration de la conception, et de la mise en place sur ouvrages, de tels capteurs.
