This book offers deliberate dynamic mitigation strategies to complement the traditional shielding strategies, providing mission operators additional ways to decrease the danger. This report provides a description of each type of communication satellite that has been launched or will be launched by 1986. The development, purpose, and basic characteristics of each type of satellite are discussed, a picture of the satellite and a block diagram of its communication subsystem are presented, and various technical details and significant dates are tabulated.
