Book Description
Hello. My name is Rylan. I see you''ve found your way here. That''s wonderful. I suppose you''re interested in learning a bit more about why you should buy this book, as that''s what you''ve been trained to expect. Well, I better respect the structure, and I''ll try not to waste any more of your time. In short, this book is a story of a human, alive in a place, at a time, doing things and having thoughts. This book is an attempt to put down in words the way in which my mind works, in exhaustible and sometimes excruciating detail. It''s also my attempt to try and understand the world around me, and more specifically, to find a structure to express that. Basically, this book is my attempt at writing, in the purest form--writing for the pleasure of putting one word after another, and writing for developing the skill of capturing thought, and writing as a form of creative expression, and writing as catharsis. You may find some parts humorous, others sad, some shocking, some boring, others grotesque, uncomfortable, enraging, and some probably even embarrassing. In fact, I hope you do, as I felt all of those emotions at one point or another during the process. I think we all do. I''ve been endlessly fascinated by the way in which each individual perceives reality, as we all share similarities in the stimuli we''re exposed to. I like to read books in which you feel as though you''ve lived another life. Purchasing this book is akin to wearing my skin. It''s renting my eyes and leasing my mind. Purchasing this book will also afford me time to try again. I don''t know if I succeeded this time around, and I may not ever. Art is an elusive creature. I know that I did the best I could given my current abilities and the time I was afforded. That''s all we can ever do, I suppose. But, I do hope one day to reach out on that branch and catch Art, even if only fleeting. To catch that wild beast and hold on, fist full of her mane, hoofs pounding beneath us, carrying us as far as the eye can see from blue ridged mountains over waves of amber grain... sorry. Anyway, even if the farthest you get is reading this, I thank you. If you purchase this book, I thank you most graciously. I thank you for helping me. But, more than thanks, I have hope. I hope that you enjoy getting lost in the tumultuous seas of my mind and come from the voyage a stronger sailor; having wrestled storms, and hot, lazy, hazy, calm and whatever else... it''s March, 12, 2017... I still have so much editing to do and am getting side tracked again...P.S. Wondering what this book is about caused you to read these words, which were written by this author, to try and get you to read their book. You pause, look up from your screen, and see what''s before you. Same old stuff. If you purchase this book (and read it) you may look at that same old stuff a bit different. Or, maybe not. You might be beyond help; a sad, lost, little soul idly flipping through Kindle books hoping to uncover the next sizzling, summer, bad boy next door romance "novel". Well, you''re in the wrong spot, my friend. There''s a bit of a love story tangled somewhere in this mess, but it isn''t necessarily tantalizing. I''d suggest you check out... well, I''d better not do that here. P.P.S. There were no corporate henchman looking over my shoulder. This is unedited, traditionally. It''s a bit like an unfiltered beer or sake. It''s still made with all the same love and care, more even, really; the words have been hammered into place over months of grueling labor, yet, and again, I warn you, it''s still unpasteurized; it''s still raw. It''s a living culture: a kombucha. If you don''t like it, if you prefer homogenized, corporatized, pasteurized, lifeless garbage, then don''t pay the ten dollars. I''ll be fine. But, if you want to taste something different; if you want to live another life; if you want to escape your fleshy shackles; if you want to spend some time inside my skin, then buy the ticket and take the ride.

Book Description
A Collection of Daily Thoughts The word thought generally refers to any mental or intellectual activity involving an individual's subjective consciousness. It can refer either to the act of thinking or the resulting ideas or arrangements of ideas. Over the past few years, I've put my thoughts down on paper and shared them with family and friends. Some said to me "it's too long," some said to me "I've heard that before," and some said nothing, as if my thoughts were delivered and had fallen into a black hole. On the other hand, there were those who cheered me on and encouraged me to keep distributing my thoughts and consider some day writing a book. What Do You Think about It is a labor-of-love collection of my best thirty-one weekly thoughts (plus two bonus thoughts because I couldn't decide on just 31) for your daily preview. In addition, you can take an active part in my literary endeavor by writing down your thoughts at the end of each chapter. One difference between humans and other animals is our ability to think, process our thoughts, and make life-changing decisions on the results. As you read and hopefully enjoy this book of daily thoughts, do your best to retain the messages intended in each thought. It's not really our efforts that define us; it's our ability to open our minds and hearts to the depths of our true thoughts and honest feelings. Paracelsus, renaissance period physician, chemist, and surgeon, wrote, "Thoughts are free and subject to no rule. On them rest the freedom of a man and they tower above the light of nature . . . create a new heaven, a new firmament, a new source of energy from which new art flows." This book represents a small piece of my heaven, my new firmament, my new source of energy from which my new art will flow. I hope you enjoy all my thoughts, but I don't expect you will just sail away on a literary cruise navigated by everything I've written. So I've provided space at the end of each chapter for your thoughts on each topic. Hence the title What Do You Think about It. Bon voyage!

Book Description
This collection of thoughts from artists and thinkers of the past and present has been lovingly gathered over many years in the personal journals of the artist Astrid Fitzgerald and reveals something of the mystery in which creativity finds its way from the energies of the cosmos into the imagination and faculties of the individual artist and eventually into the solitude of the studio and finally into a work of art. From the reports of mystics to the observations of scientists, these passages have been arranged in this volume to provide brief glimpses into the recesses of artistic being, into the tentative formations in consciousness, the first glimmers of imagination, the distinctive faculties of the creative mind, and the tensions of artistic expression in the workshop and the creative life. Fitzgerald's great contribution has been to gather into a meaningful collection the words of 2,500 years of genius as a resource and inspiration for all those who would break out of creative limitations and take a bold step into the future. Illustrated with the art of the author and others. CONTENTS: The Ground of Artistic Being The Field of Creative Play The Universal Qualities and Forces of Creativity The Flowering of Creative Energy The Faculties of Creative Expression The Nature of the Calling The Ideals of Artistic Expression Infinite Forms of Expression The Dynamics of Creative Work The Experience of the Creative Life Bibliography and Index of Authors
