Book Description
"The ability to identify ecologically vulnerable coastal wetlands is a significant advancement in conservation and environmental management for the Great Lakes ecosystem. In this study, a team of Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) scientists used a novel, science-based framework to assess the vulnerability of 20 Canadian coastal wetlands to climate change across Lakes Ontario, Erie, St. Clair, and Huron, as well as the St. Marys, Detroit, and St. Lawrence Rivers. Two coastal wetland study sites originally selected for Lake Superior were not included in the final assessment. The study improves the understanding of climate change vulnerability by integrating new regional climate and lake-level projections, modelled wetland responses and sensitivity, and the capacity of wetlands to adapt to climate disturbances based on current biological and physical factors"--Executive summary, page 6.

Book Description
This publication summarizes the current state of knowledge about Great Lakes coastal wetlands based on the information presented at the Millennium Wetland Event symposium. Information on wetland development and classification, summaries of wetland vegetation communities, and details of the fish and wildlife species that use Great Lakes coastal wetlands as habitat are all found within the following pages. Wetland conservation initiatives and some of the challenges of performing wetland science in such a large and diverse environnment are also highlighted.

Book Description
"This report summarizes the work done by the National Hydrological Service of Environment and Climate Change Canada as part of the Wetlands working group of the Great Lakes Protection Initiatives for a project designed to assess and enhance the resilience of Great Lakes Coastal Wetlands. A critical component of this study was to identify the amount and rate of climate change to which wetlands are likely to be exposed. A key role of NHS was to project future water levels of the Great Lakes from various simulations of the future climate as input to a wetlands response model. While the focus of this effort was on the response of wetland vegetation to changes in climate, it is recognized that many other interests within the Great Lakes basin will also have an interest in the results"--Executive summary, page 2.
