In 1840 the Lutherans built a church 1/2 mile north of Phillipsburg (now called Stone Creek). Later a Reformed congregation joined in using the building. In 1849 the congregations were incorporated as Zion's Church. In 1877 both congregations moved into Phillipsburg and built a church. In 1890 the congregations split: the Lutherans became Friedens and the Reformed remained Zion's.
