Volume 2 contains sermons 15-32 and volume 3 contain sermons 33-52. published between 1643 and 1646. These are the complete works of Tobias Crisp D.D. Tobias Crisp clearly taught that salvation was by the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ alone. He taught the doctrines of grace in which Christ died for the elect and his righteousness was imputed to all that believe. In the early Church there were men who taught the Law of Moses must be kept in order to be saved but the Apostle Paul stepped in to show clearly that the Gospel of Jesus Christ was the rule not life for the believer and not the Law of Moses. The apostle was charged with being an Antinomian and so too has Tobias Crisp. He was not as will seen in his sermon 51 The Use of The Law. However there have been conflicts among those who advanced that the Law of Moses is the rule of life for the believer and as such have advanced that certain days are to be kept holy and they seek to bind others to their practice.

Tobias Crisp was preacher of the gospel in England. He was born in 1600 and died in 1643 at which time these 13 sermons were first published. Within 3 years further sermons were published in further volumes this is the first. He lived at the time when The First London Baptist Confession of Faith 1644 was being prepared for publishing and it is clear from these sermons he taught Calvinistic truths. The Pulpit Commentary was first published between 1880 and 1919 and is a highly respected work written by conservative, trustworthy men.
