Trois aspects du changement structurel sont étudiés. Premièrement, on examine l'évolution de l'importance de chaque groupe d'industries au cours des vingt dernières années. Deuxièmement, on analyse le degré de changement à l'intérieur de chaque groupe, c'est-à-dire l'évolution de l'importance d'industries particulières à l'intérieur de chaque groupe et la nature de la variation du nombre d'emplois à l'intérieur de chaque industrie. Troisièmement, on détermine dans quelle mesure les écarts salariaux se sont élargis avec le temps.
