Book Description
The requirements presented in this document address the key considerations for thermal safety in aircraft fuel pump design. Document sections focus on understanding safety relative to an electrically motor driven fuel pump assembly acting as an ignition source for explosive fuel vapors within the airplane tank. ARP594 and ARP6385 form a basis for proper safety design of electric, motor driven fuel pumps. Revision F of ARP594 upgrades selected topics with additional design details that have already been included in ARP6385. These revisions are necessary to maintain consistency between the two documents. ARP594, when used in combination with ARP6385 and ARP5794, represents a basis for the proper pump design and testing and support certification of an airframe fuel pump installation. ARP594F has been reaffirmed to comply with the SAE Five-Year Review policy.

Book Description
This report lists documents that aid and govern the design of gas turbine powered aircraft and missile fuel systems. The report lists the military and industry specifications and standards and the most notable design handbooks that are commonly used in fuel system design. The specifications and standards section has been divided into two parts, a master list arranged numerically of all industry and military specifications and standards and a component list that provides a functional breakdown and a cross-reference of these documents. It is intended that this report be a supplement to specifications MIL-F-8615, MIL-F-17874, MIL-F-38363 and MIL-F-87154. Revisions and amendments which are correct for the specifications and standards are not listed. The fuel system design handbooks are listed for fuels and for system and component design.

Book Description
The reduction of the fire hazard of fuel is critical to improving survivability in impact-survivable aircraft accidents. Despite current fire prevention and mitigation approaches, fuel flammability can overwhelm post-crash fire scenarios. The Workshop on Aviation Fuels with Improved Fire Safety was held November 19-20, 1996 to review the current state of development, technological needs, and promising technology for the future development of aviation fuels that are most resistant to ignition during a crash. This book contains a summary of workshop discussions and 11 presented papers in the areas of fuel and additive technologies, aircraft fuel system requirements, and the characterization of fuel fires.

Book Description
The requirements presented in this document address the key considerations for mechanical and electrical safety in aircraft fuel pump design. Document sections focus on understanding safety relative to an electrically motor driven fuel pump assembly acting as an ignition source for explosive fuel vapors within the airplane tank. This document is a continuation of the safety information presented in ARP594, which covered the thermal aspects of fuel pump safety design. Other failure modes in FAA AC 25.981-1C fall under the umbrellas of mechanical and electrical design. This new document will address these key elements and, when used in combination with ARP594 and ARP5794, will represent a basis for the proper pump design and testing and support certification of an airframe fuel pump installation. ARP6385 has been reaffirmed to comply with the SAE Five-Year Review policy.

Book Description
This procedure is intended to apply to fuel pumps. This procedure will be defined in terms of recommended test fluid, test setup, test conditions, and test method. This procedure may be used for other fuel system components, by testing in conjunction with the pump, which normally supplies the component inlet flow, or a substitute test pump of similar capacity. This procedure may be used, with variations in test conditions and test fluid for performing pump evaluation tests. Tests at progressively increasing pump speeds and pressures will provide design limitation data. Alternate test periods on a test pump and another pump, of a design for which actual service durability is known, will provide useful comparison data. ARP1797A has been reaffirmed to comply with the SAE five-year review policy.

Book Description
This SAE Aerospace Recommended Practice (ARP) defines procedures for testing aircraft engine fuel pumps for the purpose of determining their resistance to deterioration, during steady state endurance test, while receiving MIL-T-5624 Grade JP-4 fuel as a homogenous mixture of gas and liquid expressed as a ratio of vapor volume to liquid volume (V/L).If any of the above conditions do not apply, refer to Section 2. ARP492C has been reaffirmed to comply with the SAE five-year review policy.

Book Description
All aspects of fuel products and systems including fuel handling, quantity gauging and management functions for both commercial (civil) and military applications. The fuel systems on board modern aircraft are multi-functional, fully integrated complex networks. They are designed to provide a proper and reliable management of fuel resources throughout all phases of operation, notwithstanding changes in altitude or speed, as well as to monitor system functionality and advise the flight crew of any operational anomalies that may develop. Collates together a wealth of information on fuel system design that is currently disseminated throughout the literature. Authored by leading industry experts from Airbus and Parker Aerospace. Includes chapters on basic system functions, features and functions unique to military aircraft, fuel handling, fuel quantity gauging and management, fuel systems safety and fuel systems design and development. Accompanied by a companion website housing a MATLAB/SIMULINK model of a modern aircraft fuel system that allows the user to set up flight conditions, investigate the effects of equipment failures and virtually fly preset missions. Aircraft Fuel Systems provides a timely and invaluable resource for engineers, project and programme managers in the equipment supply and application communities, as well as for graduate and postgraduate students of mechanical and aerospace engineering.
