Athletics in Drogheda 1861-2001 tells the story of how the modern sports of track & field, cross country and road racing made their seperate ways to the Boyneside town of Drogheda in Co. Louth. "It has often been argued that 'modern' leisure was born in the period from the mid-nineteenth century to the outbreak of World War One. Then, it has been suggested, that if leisure was not 'invented' its forms and meanings changed.
