Book Description
About the Book What do you do when a killer is stalking you, and no one believes you? In the 1960’s, a precocious young girl cries “Wolf!” once too often and puts her life at risk when she accidentally stumbles upon the pitifully mutilated body of a teenage girl in the woods surrounding The Presidio of San Francisco. Maura narrowly misses meeting the killer and runs for her life, but when she reports the murder to the Presidio’s military police, they don’t believe her. Over the years, and on more than a dozen military bases, this extremely bright but emotionally fragile Army Brat subjects her family, friends, and the military police to a variety of pranks. They know her intimately for her unbridled imagination and her propensity for playing tricks and jokes on people. Consequently, she has zero credibility with any of them. She persists, however, pleading with the military police until she finally convinces them to check out the area in the woods. When they reach the spot in the woods, the body is gone and there are no traces of foul play. She receives yet another serious lecture and warning from the police, and her dismayed parents ground her for a month. Her friends? They give her the benefit of the doubt, but they have other priorities on their minds. The only person who truly seems to believe Maura is a psychologist whom she’s had a long and somewhat dysfunctional relationship with. A despondent Maura realizes she’s on her own, and morbidly wonders how long she can avoid her own grisly death. She begins piecing together clues to the murder and stumbles upon the surprising identity of a sadistic killer who is seemingly loved by all. About the Author The author herself is an Army Brat, having been raised on more than twenty army bases, stateside and in Germany. She entered the U.S. Navy after graduating from high school and was trained as a CTI (Communications Technician-Interpreter). Her duty stations were primarily in Europe and the Middle East, during the Cold War. She has written and published numerous articles and short stories over the years, and is now focusing primarily on book writing. Mrs. Needham resides in Kingman, Arizona with her husband, and spends her spare time traveling, visiting her son and grandchildren, and gardening.

Book Description
Take one wildly naïve, deeply flawed, completely unconventional woman and stir in God. Add to the mix that she is a lesbian, feminist, army brat, and single mom, and what you get is an earnestly radical Christian on a mission. Her response to an insistent call to prophetic ministry is acutely human and terminally messy. Prone to veer off course, she wrestles angels who repeatedly return her to her trajectory. The prophetic ministry to which she is called ends up taking place in hundreds of small daily acts rather than the great act that she had hoped for.

Book Description
A “treasure trove” of insider accounts of the movie business from its earliest beginnings to the present day—“exceedingly savvy . . . astute and entertaining” (Variety). The Grove Book of Hollywood is a richly entertaining anthology of anecdotes and reminiscences from the people who helped make the City of Angels the storied place we know today. Movie moguls, embittered screenwriters, bemused outsiders such as P. G. Wodehouse and Evelyn Waugh, and others all have their say. Organized chronologically, the pieces form a history of Hollywood as only generations of insiders could tell it. We encounter the first people to move to Hollywood, when it was a dusty village on the outskirts of Los Angeles, as well as the key players during the heyday of the studio system in the 1930s. We hear from victims of the blacklist and from contemporary players in an industry dominated by agents. Coming from a wide variety of sources, the personal recollections range from the affectionate to the scathing, from the cynical to the grandiose. Here is John Huston on his drunken fistfight with Errol Flynn; Cecil B. DeMille on the challenges of filming The Ten Commandments; Frank Capra on working for the great comedic producer Mark Sennett; William Goldman on the strange behavior of Hollywood executives in meetings; and much more. “A masterly, magnificent anthology,” The Grove Book of Hollywood is a must for anyone fascinated by Hollywood and the film industry (Literary Review, London).

Book Description
Just Call Me Whitey is a coming of age story set in a half-forgotten America at the cusp of tectonic national—and generational—changes that still deeply resonate. It reveals a time and place when America was only first emerging from its sordid history of bigotry and hate, where a black man could not become President of the United States and was routinely denied even society’s most common conveniences such as the use of a lunch counter or a public drinking fountain. The focus is on the life of Bill Doyle as he learns to relate his own life to others without using the color bar. Time and toil have rendered an earlier version of Bill’s story, published in 2010 as Smartass, An Awakening, even more relevant today. Brian Kelly graduated from Harvard with honors in English in 1967. He is currently working on four additional novels, Our American, Mother Russia, Commie Spy and The Soviet Patriot From Brooklyn, to complete a Russian quintet which began with The Irish Smuggler, a tale of international criminal adventure, published in 2013. Our American will be published in 2016 and Mother Russia in early 2017. Kelly’s first novel, Tropic of Paradise, A Tahitian Love story, published in 2010, is another coming of age tale, but set on the ‘island of love’ in a golden hued South Pacific. Kelly currently lives and works far from Tahiti, in Bushwick, Brooklyn.
