Plants widely distributed are native also outside the Pacific Coast region. Alti' tude is given as an indication of hardiness. We have stated plants to be hardy in other localities only when we have had specific reports to that effect. We will appreciate receiving such reports on the adaptability of California native plants to various climates and countries. Heights given are average. Plants are perennial unless otherwise indicated. California annuals are best in effect when massed and are well adapted for use in eastern gardens, where they should be sown as soon as frost is over.
