During the phases of mobile warfare, the ethnically and religiously very heterogeneous population in the border regions of the multi-ethnic empires suffered in particular. Even if the real military situation in the course of the war hardly gave cause for concern, the image of disloyal ethnic and national minorities was widespread. This was particularly the case when ethnic groups lived on both sides of the border and social and political tensions had already established themselves along ethnic or religious lines of conflict before the war. Displacements, deportations and mass violence were the result. The genocide of the Armenian population is the most extreme example of this development. This anthology examines the border regions of the Ottoman, Russian and Habsburg empires during the First World War with regard to radical population policy and genocidal violence from a comparative perspective in order to draw a more precise picture of escalating and deescalating factors.

Master's Thesis from the year 2021 in the subject Business economics - Business Management, Corporate Governance, grade: 1,0, , language: English, abstract: This thesis is intended to contribute to three goals: analyse Coinbase, derive recommendations for the cryptocurrency exchange’s management, potential investors, and other cryptoeconomy participants, and create a better understanding of the crypto-industry and an enhanced acceptance of cryptocurrencies. For these purposes, Coinbase was used as a single case study and analysed qualitatively and quantitatively. A Five C’s analysis was applied in the qualitative part, complemented by SWOT and PESTLE analyses and Porter’s Five Forces. The quantitative analysis, in turn, consisted of eleven key ratios that were compared to Nasdaq’s and Intercontinental Exchange’s ratios. Coinbase’s Nasdaq listing is a caesura for the cryptoeconomy since it is the first listing of a major cryptocurrency exchange in the USA. Coinbase’s opening share price exceeds the reference price by more than 50%, resulting in Coinbase’s valuation to top the aggregated value of the two well-established, traditional exchanges Intercontinental Exchange and Nasdaq. Given this listing’s significance and size under consideration of Coinbase’s relatively short existence and small revenue size, the question emerges whether the valuation is caused by Coinbase’s business model or the cryptocurrency hype.

This foundational study draws upon the joint strengths of current music history and music theory to outline a new, up-to-date paradigm for understanding the compositional choices found in the instrumental works of Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, and their contemporaries: sonatas, chamber music, symphonies, overtures, and concertos. In so doing, it also lays out the indispensable groundwork for anyone wishing to confront the later adaptations and deformations of these basic structures in the nineteenth and earlier twentieth centuries. Combining insightful music analysis, contemporary genre theory, and provocative hermeneutic turns, the book brims over with original ideas, bold and fresh ways of awakening the potential meanings within a familiar musical repertory. Sonata Theory grasps individual compositions-and each of the individual moments within them-as creative dialogues with an implicit conceptual background of flexible, ever-changing historical norms and patterns. These norms may be recreated as constellations "compositional defaults," any of which, however, may be stretched, strained, or overridden altogether for individualized structural or expressive purposes. This book maps out the terrain of that conceptual background, against which what actually happens-or does not happen-in any given piece may be assessed and measured. The Elements guides the reader through the standard (and less-than-standard) formatting possibilities within each compositional space in sonata form, while also emphasizing the fundamental role played by processes of large-scale circularity, or "rotation," in the crucially important ordering of musical modules over an entire movement.
