Book Description
The human race has often put a high value on struggle, strife, turmoil, and excitement. Peace has been regarded as a utopian, unattainable, perhaps dull ideal or as some random element over which we have no control. However, the desperate necessities of the nuclear age have forced us to take peace seriously as an object of both personal and national policy. Stable Peace attempts to answer the question, If we had a policy for peace, what would it look like? A policy for peace aims to speed up the historically slow, painful, but persistent transition from a state of continual war and turmoil to one of continual peace. In a stable peace, the war-peace system is tipped firmly toward peace and away from the cycle of folly, illusion, and ill will that leads to war. Boulding proposes a number of modest, easily attainable, eminently reasonable policies directed toward this goal. His recommendations include the removal of national boundaries from political agendas, the encouragement of reciprocal acts of good will between potential enemies, the exploration of the theory and practice of nonviolence, the development of governmental and nongovernmental organizations to promote peace, and the development of research in the whole area of peace and conflict management. Written in straightforward, lucid prose, Stable Peace will be of importance to politicians, policy makers, economists, diplomats, all concerned citizens, and all those interested in international relations and the resolution of conflict.

Book Description
The one-state solution demonstrates that Israeli settlements have already encroached on the occupied territory of the West Bank and Gaza Strip to the extent that any Palestinian state in those areas is unviable. It reveals the irreversible impact of Israel's settlement grid by summarising its physical, demographic, financial and political dimensions. Virginia Q.Tilley explains why we should assume that this grid will not be withdrawn - or its expansion reversed - by reviewing the role of the key political actors: the Israeli government, the United States, the Arab states, and the European Union. Finally the book addresses the daunting obstacles to a one-state solution - including major revision of the Zionist dream but also Palestinian and other regional resistance - and offers some ideas about how these obstacles might be addressed.

His writings, which centre on the Palestinian struggle for independence, are a testament to his vision and humanity and provide a unique map of Palestinian diplomacy over the last three decades.

Book Description
Book's subtitle: Evolutionary, morally absolute* essays and lectures about the necessarily all-encompassing nature of true peace. At a bedrock level, these writings unify Jewish, Christian, Islamic, and Secular thought. This harmony is possible because these belief systems share the following theological and commonsensical perspective: * Good promotes life, while bad, death.[1] [1] This book does not discuss abortion. Book Summary: "Breakthrough to Peace-Even in the Middle East!" details a peacemaking plan, simultaneously secular and religious, that is based on peace's inalterable foundations. These foundations both are commonsensical to all societies in any age and are embedded into the full spectrum of Jewish, Christian, and Islamic thought. Beginning with a linguistics lesson founded on certain, logical principles that underlie Semitic languages, the peace plan, both eternal and novel, reveals that in each of the languages that Jews, Christians, and Muslims deify, peace is conceptualized inclusively. Because war, with opposing sides, is divisionary, that peace is inclusive is obvious. Continuing with this overlapping theology and social logic, because unreasonableness, which includes injustice, excludes and leads to conflict, inclusivity is achieved only through fairness, which is sufficiently loving our neighbors as ourselves. Because one man's food may be another's poison, one may rightly wonder, "About what are we to be fair and equally treat others?" To answer, this peacemaking method is foremost concerned with fairness over nothing more than the life-sustaining basics that pertain to all humans: water, food, shelter, clothes, sanitation, lack of fear of bodily harm, and so forth. For peace's sake, this first-things-first approach is ideal because (1) any lack in meeting basic needs would cause conflict naturally; and (2) any complex social malady unrelated to fulfilling fundamental requirements-say, a dispute over a national border's delineation-would be magnified were necessities unfulfilled even for a segment of society seemingly unconnected to the greater complexity. Consider: such an underserved segment would be unavailable to help in relation to its primary needs being unmet; and, such a group's social volatility could draw focus and resources away from solving the more intricate problem.
