Book Description
Both Worlds at Once is a study of works of art conceived and produced late in their creators' careers. It pronounces an alternative to the mainstream life span creativity research which has, in general, adopted a decline perspective to the fruits of old age. Amir Cohen-Shalev argues that this age-decrement approach misses what the artists themselves tried to do in old age, which is often to develop a new form that allows them to thrive on ambivalence. Against the bleak predictions of developmental psychology and folk wisdom, this book focuses on old age as a unique stage of creative activity.

Book Description
For all of its apparent simplicity—a few chords, twelve bars, and a supposedly straightforward American character—blues music is a complex phenomenon with cultural significance that has varied greatly across different historical contexts. One Sound, Two Worlds examines the development of the blues in East and West Germany, demonstrating the multiple ways social and political conditions can shape the meaning of music. Based on new archival research and conversations with key figures, this comparative study provides a cultural, historical, and musicological account of the blues and the impact of the genre not only in the two Germanys, but also in debates about the history of globalization.

Book Description
In the New York Times bestseller Everything All at Once, Bill Nye shows you how thinking like a nerd is the key to changing yourself and the world around you. Everyone has an inner nerd just waiting to be awakened by the right passion. In Everything All at Once, Bill Nye will help you find yours. With his call to arms, he wants you to examine every detail of the most difficult problems that look unsolvable—that is, until you find the solution. Bill shows you how to develop critical thinking skills and create change, using his “everything all at once” approach that leaves no stone unturned. Whether addressing climate change, the future of our society as a whole, or personal success, or stripping away the mystery of fire walking, there are certain strategies that get results: looking at the world with relentless curiosity, being driven by a desire for a better future, and being willing to take the actions needed to make change happen. He shares how he came to create this approach—starting with his Boy Scout training (it turns out that a practical understanding of science and engineering is immensely helpful in a capsizing canoe) and moving through the lessons he learned as a full-time engineer at Boeing, a stand-up comedian, CEO of The Planetary Society, and, of course, as Bill Nye The Science Guy. This is the story of how Bill Nye became Bill Nye and how he became a champion of change and an advocate of science. It’s how he became The Science Guy. Bill teaches us that we have the power to make real change. Join him in… dare we say it… changing the world.

Book Description
"He's waiting for you!" With this enigmatic invitation, the Traveler finds himself swept into a world that is completely alien, yet strangely familiar. He is told that he will be returning home, yet this new world is inhabited by elves, trolls, and centaurs. Everything has changed! Magic, mysticism, and superstition seem to hold more power here than logic and rationality. And a disturbing truth emerges; human history is being deliberately rewritten to disguise an invasion by rebels from another dimension intent upon harnessing humanity to their will. Opposing them is the sovereign government from this same dimension, whose leadership will not become directly involved in the struggle on Earth. Humans must be recruited, then trained to resist this ominous distortion of history. Given the assistance of two extraordinary companions and a magical pendant, the Traveler is told to recover an item lost in the conflict since antiquity, an integral part of a much more powerful mechanism, the First Jewel of Earth. You will find yourself challenged to place this book within conventional categories. Is this fiction, fantasy, or prophecy? Is this story set in the distant past or the emerging future? Is it possible that two alien forces have been struggling for control of human history since the beginning of time? Join the Traveler in pursuing this quest. Like him, your reality will be forever changed!

Book Description
Originally published in 1967, this book gathers together the various aspects of Dr Dick’s theoretical and clinical approach to marriage difficulties into a coherent system for the benefit of professional workers and students who were concerned with family and community psychiatry and case work at the time. He preserves the essentials of the steps by which his concepts developed from one-person therapy into hypotheses for understanding interaction, with the couple as the unit of study.
