Book Description
Excerpt from Growth and Quality of Pruned Black Walnut Diameter growth at breast height and at 9 feet and total height growth for the 10-year period were the same for pruned and unpruned trees. Surprisingly, growth for the 2 and 5-year periods was best on pruned trees. Most information available on pruning is for conifers and shows that growth following live pruning usually slows down for a few years. Book Description
Excerpt from Black Walnut on Nonforest Land in Kentucky OT all black walnut trees grow in the forest. Many are found in open places along fence rows, in pastures, in narrow wooded strips. Trees in places like this are not counted in the forest surveys made by the U. 8. Forest Service to find out how much timber we have. Yet such trees are part of our over all black walnut resource.
