A Word With You: My Journal Through The Bible
Author: Al Lowry
Publisher: Eric Elder Ministries
ISBN:
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 779
Book Description
Have you ever wanted to read through the entire Bible? You can! Join Al Lowry as he reads through the Bible in a year using this Daily Bible Reading Guide. Each daily reading is accompanied by a few words from Al to gently nudge you to do what he once thought was impossible—to read through the most important book ever written. FROM THE INTRODUCTION I began writing this journal 9 years ago when a friend told me of a “Guilt-Free” reading plan that went through the entire Bible. He explained that the principle was to just take time to read or listen to that day’s passage— and if you miss a few days, to skip ahead to the current day’s reading. He said people will read through more of the Bible this way than if they stop part way for lack of “keeping up.” Then they can read it again the next year and pick up the passages they missed the first time around. I responded I just might be the poster child for quitting, as I would start well many a January, only to fall hopelessly away when tedious books like Numbers, Leviticus or Deuteronomy would sideline me in the first quarter. Then he challenged me in a very big way. He had one of the first online ministries called, “The Ranch,” at theranch.org. I read about it in USA Today and through a set of rather unusual circumstances, we became connected as good friends. He suggested I invite readers to follow along with me, and that 1st day of the year, I introduced a Facebook page with that very purpose. He gave me an invitation to include my plan in one of his online sermons and put out an open invitation to whoever might be inclined to join me. About 450 people signed up, and that set me on course with a lot of accountability partners with whom I would share a devotional each day. At the end of that year, I could not believe I’d finally accomplished this challenge of reading Genesis through Revelation. So what next—just be done with it? I decided to do it again the next year, and the next, and the next… I believe God has a sense of humor and turned me into the Forrest Gump of Bible reading. (Remember how he kept running back-and-forth across the country?) I mentioned we started with about 450 in our Facebook group the first year and now there are over 1500. This year, I decided to put the devotionals in book form so readers would have the option to join me online or by paperback. Regardless of your own motivation to read the Bible, I sure would be privileged to walk by your side. The goal is still the same as when we started—to grow in our faith by reading through as much of the Bible as we can. Hopefully, my light commentaries can give you that gentle nudge that helps you also do what I felt was impossible—to read the Bible in its entirety.

Because You Prayed
Author: Judy Mizu
Publisher: Word Alive Press
ISBN: 1486622402
Category : Biography & Autobiography
Languages : en
Pages : 71
Book Description
Because You Prayed is a resource for all of those praying with desperate concern for prodigals. These thirty days of prayer and decrees have been selected from my journey and personal journal. The chosen themes represent the struggles I faced in believing for my family’s restoration and how a solid scriptural foundation helped put that faith in action through prayer. I have set the stage for these days of prayer by telling our family’s story. As the entries indicate, there were often more challenges than celebrations. However, our story becomes a testimony to add an element of authentic hope. The grand crescendo of the book is a thank you letter from my son. His lived experience, breakthroughs, and years of restored destiny will fan the flame of confident expectation for the readers. Because You Prayed will be a source of encouragement, enabling more individuals and families to also develop their own testimony.

Book Description
A Guide to Overcoming Life's Major Setbacks Rising From The Ashes: A Guide to Overcoming Life's Major Setbacks" is a comprehensive, empathetic, and practical guide aimed at helping individuals navigate through life's significant adversities and emerging stronger and more resilient than ever. The book commences with an introduction acknowledging the inevitability of setbacks, the universality of such experiences, and the importance of understanding setbacks. Using biblical references, idiomatic expressions, and insights from academicians, the book sets a strong foundation, preparing readers for the journey they are about to embark upon. The first chapter explores the nature of personal setbacks. Focusing on health-related and financial setbacks, it paints a realistic picture of these adversities, backed by academic research, expert opinions, and real-life examples, which readers can relate to. The subsequent chapters delve into the emotional impact of setbacks, from the immediate emotional response to the lingering emotional effects. Recognizing the importance of understanding grief and loss, the book includes a detailed discussion on the five stages of grief, personal reactions, and the timeframe of grief, all while offering actionable coping strategies. The book then guides readers through the complexities of denial and isolation, underlining the risks associated with them and providing practical steps to break free. The ensuing section addresses the handling of anger, demonstrating how to recognize it, express it healthily, and redirect it towards positive change. The narrative proceeds to explore the bargaining stage of grief and the potential onset of depression. Readers will gain a deep understanding of these phases and learn beneficial coping methods. The notion of acceptance, as the start of a new journey, is meticulously discussed, presenting it as a catalyst for healing and a gateway to embracing a new journey. The subsequent chapters emphasize the power of a positive mindset, the essence of self-care during recovery, and the concept of resilience, providing strategies and techniques to build these attributes. Recognizing the significance of support, the book underscores the need for accepting help, reaching out, and maintaining a support network. It advocates for professional help, informing readers when to seek it, and how therapy, coaching, and support groups can aid recovery. The narrative takes a positive turn with the discussion of turning setbacks into comebacks. It encourages readers to find opportunities in adversity and shares real-life examples of successful comebacks, offering insightful tips for readers to implement in their lives. Rebuilding one's life after a major setback forms the crux of the next series of chapters. The book guides readers on reassessing and recovering their financial and professional life, personal and social life, and emotional and mental health. Each section is teeming with actionable advice, evidence-based strategies, and encouraging examples to assist readers in their recovery journey. The book concludes with creating a 'new normal' and embracing change. The last chapters inspire readers to set short-term and long-term goals, maintain constant growth and progress, and share inspiring stories of successful individuals.
