Book Description
From Jody Kaye, bestselling author and the creator of the Kingsbrier Quintuplets, comes a highly addictive and twisted, secret lovers romance between a medical student and the hunky single dad with a stutter, who works as a handyman at the strip club she dances at. There’s a Sliver of Truth hiding behind their steamy hookups. But is it love or simply lust? And what happens when a Mill Girl breaks the cardinal rule? —Cece— Men beg to touch my body. Yet, Dusty’s moves against mine in unspeaking eloquence. My heart stammers when we’re alone, and he growls my name. I hate that I love the strength of his arms. I love that I hate it too. The feeling keeps me sane because when we’re apart, doubt creeps in. I’m ashamed to admit my fears about what happens if everyone finds out we’ve been hooking up. Along with the guilt comes the horrible thoughts I shouldn't have about Dusty’s disability. Perhaps those emotions are a sign I’m not a good person and there is a sliver of truth that I don’t deserve a better life. Book Description
Tad Lincoln's restless wriggle just wouldn’t quit, much to the delight of his father, President Abraham Lincoln—if not so much to anybody else! This picture book brings to life the famous first son who coped with a disability and other challenges while showing compassion, intelligence, and wisdom beyond his years. Tad Lincoln's boundless energy annoyed almost everyone but his father, President Abraham Lincoln. But Tad put that energy to good use during the tough times of the Civil War. Abraham Lincoln guided Tad's wriggle on visits to hospitals, to the telegraph office, and to army camps. Tad greeted visitors, raised money for bandages, and kept his father company late into the night. This special and patient bond between father and son was plain to see, and before long, Tad had wriggled his way into the hearts of others as well. Beth Anderson and S.D. Schindler follow Tad's antics during the Civil War to uncover the generous heart and joyful spirit that powered Tad's restless wriggle.

Book Description
This monograph is the first large-scale corpus analysis of French il y a clefts. While most research on clefts focusses on the English ‘prototypical’ it-cleft and its equivalents across languages, this study examines the lesser-known il y a clefts – of both presentational-eventive and specificational type – and provides an in-depth analysis of their syntactic, semantic and discourse-functional properties. In addition to an extensive literature review and a comparison with Italian c’è clefts and with French c’est clefts, the strength of the study lies in the critical approach it develops to the common definition of clefts. Several commonly used criteria for clefts are applied to the corpus data, revealing that these criteria often lead to ambiguous results. The reasons for this ambiguity are explored, thus leading to a better understanding of what constitutes a cleft. In this sense, the analysis will be of interest to specialists of Romance and non-Romance clefts alike.

Book Description
A retreat to Greece becomes a dangerous trap for a grieving and haunted widow in this novel from “a superb and gifted storyteller” (Mary Higgins Clark). Ever since Dorcas Brandt’s husband, Gino Nikkaris, died in a plane crash, she’s been beset by troubling suspicions that his shady intrigues in the art world may have been the cause of his death. Desperate for both a new future and answers to the questions about Gino’s past, Dorcas whisks her daughter away to the Greek island of Rhodes. Among Gino’s family, friends, and former colleagues—and a kindhearted American named Johnny—Dorcas hopes to find a semblance of peace as she traverses the magnificent ruins and ancient fortresses. But her dreams are soon dashed: There’s something accusatory and unforgiving in her late husband’s elderly female patron; the peculiar woman enlisted as her daughter’s nanny is a black hole of hostility; a new love is under threat; and as scrawled warnings appear and disappear before her eyes, she fears for her own sanity. Now, as her husband’s mysterious past casts a shadow over Dorcas’s every move, the young mother must confront not only a terrible truth but also the terrifying fate that awaits her on the white cliffs of the Aegean. Set against a picturesque Mediterranean backdrop, this novel of lies and family secrets from a New York Times–bestselling and Edgar Award–winning author is “told with the skill that has caused Miss Whitney to be compared with Mary Stewart and Daphne du Maurier” (The Springfield Republican). This ebook features an illustrated biography of Phyllis A. Whitney including rare images from the author’s estate.
