Modules over the Integral Group Ring of a Non-Abelian Group of Order $pq$
Author: Lee Klingler
Publisher: American Mathematical Soc.
ISBN: 0821823434
Category : Group rings
Languages : en
Pages : 138
Book Description
By using pullbacks, we obtain a description of finitely generated modules over the integral group ring of a non-abelian group of order [italic]pq. The description is detailed enough to obtain information about the behavior of the modules in direct sums. We make the description more precise by relating it to the locally free class group of the integral group ring.

Group Rings and Class Groups
Author: K.W. Roggenkamp
Publisher: Birkhäuser
ISBN: 303488611X
Category : Mathematics
Languages : en
Pages : 215
Book Description
The first part of the book centers around the isomorphism problem for finite groups; i.e. which properties of the finite group G can be determined by the integral group ring ZZG ? The authors have tried to present the results more or less selfcontained and in as much generality as possible concerning the ring of coefficients. In the first section, the class sum correspondence and some related results are derived. This part is the proof of the subgroup rigidity theorem (Scott - Roggenkamp; Weiss) which says that a finite subgroup of the p-adic integral group ring of a finite p-group is conjugate to a subgroup of the finite group. A counterexample to the conjecture of Zassenhaus that group basis are rationally conjugate, is presented in the semilocal situation (Scott - Roggenkamp). To this end, an extended version of Clifford theory for p-adic integral group rings is presented. Moreover, several examples are given to demonstrate the complexity of the isomorphism problem. The second part of the book is concerned with various aspects of the structure of rings of integers as Galois modules. It begins with a brief overview of major results in the area; thereafter the majority of the text focuses on the use of the theory of Hopf algebras. It begins with a thorough and detailed treatment of the required foundational material and concludes with new and interesting applications to cyclotomic theory and to elliptic curves with complex multiplication. Examples are used throughout both for motivation, and also to illustrate new ideas.

Representation Theory of Algebras
Author: Raymundo Bautista
Publisher: American Mathematical Soc.
ISBN: 9780821803950
Category : Mathematics
Languages : en
Pages : 780
Book Description
The ICRA VII was held at Cocoyoc, Mexico, in August 1994. This was the second time that the ICRA was held in Mexico: ICRA III took place in Puebla in 1980. The 1994 conference included 62 lectures, all listed in these Proceedings. Not all contributions presented, however, appear in this book. Most papers in this volume are in final form with complete proofs, with the only exception being the paper of Leszczynski and Skowronski, Auslander algebras of tame representation type, that the editors thought useful to include.

Representation Theory of Finite Groups and Finite-Dimensional Algebras
Author: Michler
Publisher: Birkhäuser
ISBN: 3034886586
Category : Mathematics
Languages : en
Pages : 526
Book Description
From April 1, 1984 until March 31, 1991 the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft has sponsored the project "Representation Theory of Finite Groups and Finite Di mensional Algebras". The proposal for this project was submitted by B. Huppert (Mainz), B. Fischer (Bielefeld), G. Michler (Essen), H. Pahlings (Aachen) and C. M. Ringel (Bielefeld) in order to strengthen the interaction between the different re search areas in representation theory. The Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft has given many research positions and fellowships for young algebraists enabling them to do research at their own uni versities or as visitors at well known research institutions in America, Australia, England and France. The whole project benefitted very much from an extensive exchange programme between German and American scientists sponsored by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft and by the National Science Foundation of the United States. This volume presents lectures given in a final conference and reports by members of the project. It is divided into two parts. The first part contains seven survey articles describing recent advances in different areas of representation theory. These articles do not only concentrate on the work done by the German research groups, but also inform on major developments of the subject at all. The volume omits those topics already treated in book form. In particular, it does not contain a survey on K.

Category : Rings (Algebra)
Languages : en
Pages : 284
Book Description
The Ring Theory Conference, held a the University of Miskolc, Hungary, successfully accomplished its two goals: to reflect contemporary trends in the subject area; and to offer a meeting place for a large number of Eastern European algebraists and their colleagues from around the world. Particular emphasis was placed on recent developments in the following four areas: representation theory, group algebras, PI algebras and general ring theory.
