El objetivo del estudio era demostrar que el método del Tema Central de Conflicto Relacional (CCRT) recoge adecuadamente los patrones generales de interacción y la evolución del proceso terapéutico en un caso singular de larga duración. Para ello se aplicó el método en el caso de María, paciente española de 22 años diagnosticada de trastorno histriónico de personalidad, tratada durante 269 sesiones con psicoterapia focal planificada utilizando el sistema de categorías tradicional y el nuevo sistema CCRT-LU. Los resultados muestran un número alto de episodios de relación por sesión (9,03). Los principales objetos de relación son las figuras parentales y la pareja. El índice de positividad del tratamiento es muy bajo. Las respuestas en las interacciones son predominantemente negativas y no armoniosas. Los temas centrales de conflicto relacional aparecen descritos en detalle por los patrones hallados a través de CCRT y CCRT-LU. Se encontraron resultados parejos, aportando este último más información dada la dimensión de dirección. Tanto las características de los componentes como los patrones relacionales generales y específicos de la paciente, como el valor positivo o negativo de las respuestas varían significativamente según el objeto de la interacción. El estudio de los temas interpersonales de relación refleja con exactitud el proceso psicoterapéutico, mostrando variaciones en las fases de la terapia. El estudio muestra la funcionalidad del método para la investigación del proceso en psicoterapia ilustrando en detalle los patrones centrales de relación y sus cambios durante el curso de una terapia psicoanalítica. CCRT-LU es particularmente sensible al material clínico y especialmente recomendable para el análisis del proceso en psicoterapia.
