Excerpt from Annals of the American Associate, Associate Reformed, and Reformed Presbyterian Pulpit, 1869 There were, at this time, in the Province of Pennsylvania, three minis ters belonging to that Body of dissenters from the Church of Scotland, known as Reformed Presbyterians. It was proposed to form a union between these Ministers and the Associate Presbytery of Pennsylvania; and this was finally accomplished on the 13th of June, 1782, but not without great opposition, and only by the casting vote of the Moderator. The United Body denominated themselves the Associate Reformed Synod but the portion of the Associate Presbytery that disapproved the measure continued their organization.
