Como afirma Norberto Bobbio (1997), tal vez porque el curso histórico es cada vez más acelerado; o bien, debido a los prejuicios que todavía pesan sobre los ancianos; lo cierto es que la marginación de los viejos resulta, hoy, un dato de hecho, imposible de ignorar... Este tipo de discriminación impacta de manera particular en las esferas de autonomía, libertad e igualdad de las personas de edad, convirtiéndolos en sujetos débiles del sistema. In Post-modern times, people living their old age are often relegated by society to areas of neglect, indifference, and even violence that affect the quality of their life. As stated by Norberto Bobbio (1997), perhaps because the course of history is ever-accelerating, or due to the prejudices that still weigh on elderly people, the fact is that the marginalization of the elders is today a fact impossible to ignore. This type of discrimination particularly impacts the areas of autonomy, freedom and equality elder people, turning them into weak subjects of the system.
