Le travail présenté dans ce mémoire est une contribution à l'étude des variations thermiques et hygrométriques des bétons de sable fluides et de leur influence sur les déformations de retrait de ces bétons. Nous avons d'abord cherché à faire le point sur les connaissances actuelles concernant le retrait des bétons de sable. Nous avons aussi recensé et analysé les trois principaux modèles existants, pour choisir si possible à la fois le plus efficace et celui pouvant être physiquement le mieux justifié. Des essais de conductimétrie, de calorimétrie, le suivi de la cinétique de séchage des matériaux, des observations d'échantillons au microscope électronique à balayage et l'analyse de leurs porométrie au moyen du porosimètre à mercure, ont été choisis pour caractériser la microstructure. L'étude expérimentale a concerné le retrait plastique, le retrait endogène, le retrait de dessication et les résistances respectives des bétons. Ont été suivies parallèlement, les déformations des bétons de sable pour différentes conditions de température (T=20°C et 30 °C) et d'hygrométrie (HR=50, 60, 70, et 90%) et leur perte de masse au cours du temps. Une approche de la modélisation du retrait est également proposée. La possibilité d'évaluer le retrait endogène en fonction des résistances et le retrait de dessiscation en fonction des compositions et des dosages, permet de réduire de manière conséquente le nombre d'essais préliminaires.
