Fume Hood Performance Measurements
Author: Cecilia Rhoneʹe Rodgers
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category : Fume hoods
Languages : en
Pages : 114
Book Description
Laboratory fume hoods at the University of Kentucky were quantitatively and qualitatively evaluated for fume and hood performance. Testing included face velocity measurements and flow visualization. the ANSI/ASHRAE 110 method utilizing a tracer gas, an infrared spectrometer, and a mannequin was also performed. Concentrations in the mannequin's breathing zone were recorded to determine a level of contaminant leakage. The fume hoods were then tested using a new procedure, the smoke particle challenge method. The experimental method is one that builds on the ANSI/ASHRAE standard by using a TSI P-trak to qualitatively measure if there is any escape of any contaminants from the hood. The results from each test were reviewed individually, and then compared to each other in order to establish a comprehensive evaluation for the separated procedures.
