Book Description
Excerpt from An Ecclesiastical History From the Thirteenth to the Nineteenth Century This second volume of the Manual of Ecclesiastical History completes the work, the first volume of which was issued four years ago. That volume brought the history down to the close of the reign of Innocent III., the commencement of the thirteenth century; and the present volume resumes the history at that point, and continues it to the beginning of the nineteenth century. While each volume forms a complete history of a definite period in itself, the two volumes constitute a continuous narrative of the prominent events of Church History for the eighteen centuries. It is unnecessary for the author to state again the extreme difficulty of telling so long and complicated a story in so short a space; and to repeat the assurance of the anxious care and labor with which he has striven to overcome that difficulty, and to present the facts in their right relative position of importance. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Find more at www.forgottenbooks.com This book is a reproduction of an important historical work. Forgotten Books uses state-of-the-art technology to digitally reconstruct the work, preserving the original format whilst repairing imperfections present in the aged copy. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in our edition. We do, however, repair the vast majority of imperfections successfully; any imperfections that remain are intentionally left to preserve the state of such historical works.
